Action-Adventure Godzilla 2016

Reviews seem really positive overall though, seems like Anno brought something his own twist to Godzilla whilst channeling the origins of the monster well. I had a feeling it would be a very Japanese film judging from the first trailer, there was some disaster imagery that was very reminiscent of the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake. Very excited to see this one!

This will sound a bit stupid but... What did they use to portray Godzilla in this film? I'm sure there's a bit of CGI here and there but is it the classic "Man-In-A-Suit", aniamtronic, puppet or full CGI imitating the above?

I believe they're using a combination of props, puppets, and cgi for this film. I don't think they're using a suit this time around.

Full CGI.

Without further ado, please enjoy this really positive review of Shin Godzilla. The tagline to the video is simply See This Movie! And you know what? I Will!

P.S. Even though this was learned days ago, I'm still surprised that
the Americans are the heroes along with Japan. As well as the people who tell the Japanese gov't to step up and do your jobs.

SOOOO

Toho has registered a website called "godzilla anime"

Yay

I hope it's about a kaiju school where Godzilla has to attend in between destroying cities. Also he finds love <3

So, it sounds like this is doing amazing at the box office in Japan. (Opened six times higher than Final Wars)

So, yay, more successful Godzilla.

Glad to hear its doing well. I'm looking forward to the American release.

Good to know it's successful. Now let's just hope Toho doesn't decide to oversaturate the market again with yearly releases that caused Godzilla to go into a 10 year hiatus to begin with.

I've read reviews saying it's a legitimate masterpiece from Anno, so I'm really interested in seeing it now, as someone who hasn't really been into Godzilla before.

Check this **** out.....

I'm fairly certain Toho won't. Before the delay, I think they would've been fine with alternating between US Goji and Toho Goji. Though, I think they will get one out in 2018, and we will see if GvKK gets delayed.

very excited to see a toho godzilla again. the last american attempt was honestly one of the most disappointing movies i had ever seen, and i thought it looked bad going in. all of the last toho godzillas are the best, you finally got to see the monsters fight using there full range of capabilities not just scrap then finish one another off with a cool beam attack. godzilla vs space godzilla is by far my favorite.

Oh my Godzilla!

I really need to see this movie NOW!

The date is for the Philippines, yes?

Heisei Godzilla is my fave era, but I have to disagree. Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla was cool visually, but boy was the plot awful. I would say easily the worst of the Heisei era.

Very Much a ditto.

Great thing about the Heisei Godzilla series which I used on myself: you can easily skip both Mothra AND SpaceGodzilla.

So it can be instead: 54>84>GvsB>GvsKG>GvsMGII>GvsD
Because each movie reference one another, but GvsMGII never referenced Mothra until GvsSG, almost like it never happened. And even in GvsSG, MechaGodzilla was never referenced from the mecha nor Little Godzilla was at first Baby Godzilla, but the events from GvsM is referenced. Almost felt like the odd number films of the Heisei series were direct sequels toward each other, as were the even number films too. Again, almost...

P.S. A reminder, since we mentioned the Heisei series: The Return of Godzilla, the original Japanese Version of what we know to be Godzilla 1985, will FINALLY come to America on Blu-Ray and DVD next month on the 13th!
