Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

We have to take into account possible effect it will have on Godzilla vs Kong too though. Which he also wrote it seems.

Why even bother having humans in it if they're just going to waste screen time?
If you think that it is getting bad reviews now, take the humans out.
Those reviews will get a thousand times worse.

I've already seen the "Winterfel level darkness" comment regarding the action from a review.

Fights during the day just don't have that cool effect I guess.

wasn't toho supposedly going to make more Godzilla films that were part of this continuity?

Super bummed we aren't getting the sequel to Shin Godzilla.

Is it worth seeing in IMAX? I mean, the ticket is double the price of a regular ticket

Well, people would like the Rebuild Eva movies to be completed, so...

The plan is for Toho to start up production of Godzilla movies again, a separate continuity from the Monsterverse. I think the continuation of the Legendary deal is up to the performance of this and Kong. Likely Toho releasing movies when Legendary isn't.

Toho's making more movies after 2020.

Yes, Toho is. It won't be in the Monsterverse though as they want their own MCU like entity for their monster films. I am inclined to think that means the deal ends after GvK, unless Toho/Legendary come to an agreement about the time table of their movies that works for both parties.

We'll see I guess. There are scenes in Godzilla 2014 that are incredibly dark and it doesn't matter what I watch it on. If I can tolerate that then i would hope i can tolerate this.

Have you also had this issue with the digital version? On my blu ray I have mess around with my settings to get it to show slightly more clear but I think on digital it seemed clearer, or maybe it's just my mind playing tricks with itself.

Based on the reviews, my expectations are probably correct. Visual spectacle and nothing more.

It is a thing

Blu-ray: Godzilla 3D (Warner Bros.)

Godzilla 2014 took a long time to get to theaters and it took quite a lot of work to not only design the creatures but the general look of the film. Lighting ,cinematography, detail, color timing are all important aspects of this film and they have all been robbed of their glory due to a transfer that not only darkens the film, it mutes the color and lacks detail seen not only in theaters but in trailers and even the special features on the Blu-Ray disk. The transfer is something that never should have been let out the door and it's a disservice to the work of everyone involved in creating and marketing the film.
