Also seeing some resemblance to the scrapped Stan Winston Godzilla design. Its interesting, they seem to be taking some of the crocidillian aspects of Monsterverse Goji and adding it to this new Goji.
At the moment the-numbers.com has it listed as a limited US release (insert sad emoji here). I’m close to Chicago so hopefully some shows pop up…don’t know about Europe, you might get stuck with streaming.Toho, can you please give us european kaiju fans one break for this movie, please? If this is getting a nationwide release in the US, I'm hoping against hope that the same happens here in Europe.
Yeah, based on this:I imagine Toho is looking at as limited as some of the bigger anime movie releases. And lets admit it, Godzilla is bigger than Ultraman, and isn't being kneecapped by Toei like Kamen Rider.
One interesting aspect that just came to mind is, given how Oppenheimer later regretted the creation of the atom bomb, how he would, in-universe with any of these movies, have felt about his invention birthing this gargantuan monster that is annihilates everything and everyone in its path.
Someone could write a really interesting Godzilla fan-fic piece with that concept.
For as much as I enjoy Godzilla 2014, I wonder what could have been if the movie ended up as well represented by that teaser. Massively missed opportunity, so I hope Minus One is much more akin to it. So far given the tone, time period and imagery, it might do just that.Funny you bring up Oppenheimer, because I just thought that the Godzilla Minus One trailer reminded me of that epic and chilling Godzilla 2014 teaser with Oppenheimer's "Destroyer of Worlds" as the voice over for their trailer.
It's pretty amazing how many times Godzilla's been redesigned over the years and it still feels fresh.

Looks fantastic!
