I think I remember that one. I loved AYAOTD to death as a kid and still love it, far and away the best show Nickelodeon had in the old days when they were actually a good network with quality programming.

The mid to late 90's were the Golden Age of Nick.

The Adventures of Pete and Pete, All That, Keenan and Kel, Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, Angry Beavers, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and Goosebumps was on Nick or CN I don't remember.

All before Spongebob. That show was great but that's all Nick has now.

I was thinking that too. Maybe they could use the stories we are familiar with, but use original ideas in the material itself.

Some of the original ideas used for Goosebumps were lame. I didn't like the "Monster Blood" episode where it takes place on an airplane... I mean, come on. That's a really lame excuse for not adapting the other two 'Monster Blood' books.

A PG13 Trick 'r Treat style Goosebumps film, with perhaps 3 or 4 of the books that aren't quite 'big' enough to fill their own film, does sound really interesting. And when it makes money and they franchise it (which they must already be thinking) they could spin it off and start doing solo-themed films such as Goosebumps: Horrorland.

They could link it by location, say Dark Falls, or by all incorparating items and taking place in and around each other, such as the Haunted Mask, the camera, perhaps werewolf skin..

What I liked about Trick r Treat, was how the stories were different but all intertwined at some point in the film. And I like the idea about having nods to other books that they're not adapting this time around.. like having Slappy in the background.

Lots of potential here.

Pete and Pete, Angry Beavers, AYAOTD and Doug were all great. I'm not sure if these were ever on Nick (maybe they were here in the UK, I dunno) but the Tales from the Crypt Keeper cartoon and Mighty Max were great too.

My son has loved these books for years (yeah, Im that old) and always looks forward to the marathon every October on Cartoon Network. Its a good series and a pretty decent way to introduce younger kids to the realm of "horror". This could be the next big franchise. I say go for it.

Loved these as a kid. Still have a large chunk of the books and some episodes on tape (which I plan on collecting next year on dvd). I wonder if the film will be made with a new generation of kids as the primary target or the people who grew up watching the show & reading the books as the target. Should be interesting, I'll see it either way. t:

heard about the news the other day. pretty cool. Cant wait to hear what they decide to do. Will they make an all original story or adapt on of the many books.

I don't really remember those. I remember The Hidden Temple maybe. I didn't start watching Nick until 1996 or so.

I think they should just adapt The Haunted Mask. The TV show was good and all, but they really had to compress a lot of the books. The books were only 90 pages, but that's a lot of material for a 30 minute show (20 minutes without commericals). So, this is a chance to faithfully adapt them.

I will say, however, that as much as everyone loves Monster Blood, the ending or "reveal" was quite dreadful. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it, but it was a good kiddie version of The Blob, but the ending was just so stupid. I've always disliked Monster Blood because of that.

I remember them being shorter. But, anyway, it proves my point even more. The TV show already did a poor adaptation of the books and now people want an anthology movie where that'll be the case again. Some of these books were good enough to warrant their own movie. The Haunted Mask is a prime example. Even the producers of the TV show felt the need to do an hour episode for that book. That's how good it is.

That's a personal fav or mine too. It had some really good suspense and mystery leading up to an out of left field twist at the end that actually worked and I didn't see coming at all.
