On FOX, Gotham returned to a 1.5, down 25 percent from a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating for its most recent original episode. (4.42 million viewers)

Jeez, I know they needed more time to film these last four episodes, but these lengthy breaks are killing the show.

As we all know, FOX can be trigger happy, and with EMPIRE clouding their judgement, Gotham may not make it past it's second season. Do we know how many episodes they've ordered yet?

The fact that Cat seemed so unaffected by killing Reggie- it seemed like she killed before. We have a pint sized killing machine on our hands.

Jeez, I know they needed more time to film these last four episodes, but these lengthy breaks are killing the show.

I wouldn't count Gotham out just yet...they might turn it around if they deliver a solid Season 2.

I like Gotham a lot, but I admit that there is a lot that could be improved upon, and a big one is I feel they need to focus more on character development and less on villain of the week plots. I also think the sudden 22 episodes that they ordered for Season 1 may have been a bit too much, I feel it threw the writers for a loop, and they sort of lost their way in the big toybox that is Batman's Rouges Gallery.

They really need to sit down and refocus on where they want to go for Season 2.

In the meantime I'm looking forward to seeing what they do for the Season 1 Finale...if they end it on a high note, that is another thing that could entice viewers to check out Season 2.

Just my opinion.

I hope this makes it to Season 2 and beyond.

However, I don't know how long it can sustain itself without Bruce being older and starting his journey to be Batman. Kid Bruce and Kid Selina are nice, but after Season 2, they really need a time jump.

Ultimately, a Batman-themed show needs Batman. or at least Bruce's journey to become Batman.

Yeah, Fish and Dulmacher feels like a waste of two great actors with no real plan worth their time. Restoring strong, focused story structure should be this show's main priority getting into its sophomore season.

The A-plot was only adequate, but with strong promise for an end of season plot arc. The Ogre is a good badguy, and well acted, but he's not all that different from every other serial killer bad guy in procedurals. Barbara seems like the prime suspect for trimmed fat, with the complete lack of purpose for her character.

Bruce and Selina is where the show's most intriguing character development for tonight. Seeing Bat and Cat on the streets is a status quo this show should establish, and we know they'll have another storyline in Bruce's arena coming up. So, having Bruce clearly dealing with violent impulses and Cat being willing to kill for a friend gives their relationship some nice dimension. It also adds a seed for their antagonism that makes a bit more sense than just the stealing.

that's how I felt about Bruce and Selina, too. I really want their relationship to be the central focus of the show because they are the most interesting characters.

There are just too many episodes for a network television show. I never watched Smallville or the CW lineup. I don't know how they maintain a large viewership, but they don't have the same demographics of a prime time Fox show. I think Gotham can only sustain this kind of format for another 3-4 seasons tops. But I don't think changing actors for Batman every couple seasons and doing some type of Batman Begins origin is the answer either.

that's how I felt about Bruce and Selina, too. I really want their relationship to be the central focus of the show because they are the most interesting characters.

I'm finding that everybody tends to have a subplot that they tend to favor whenever it gets more time and development, and i'd say almost every subplot and character has had an awesome moment this season. The issue is they never try to stack them on top of each other except for maybe one or two issues.

Penguin's early story-line was very good, but he's had a bunch of "holding pattern" episodes where he does nothing substantial, but instead just shows up to show he's still a lead character. Give him some serious moves or stuff, and don't let up.

The best Harvey and Jim episodes have featured them getting deeper into the noir-like roots of Gotham City, and at least their A-plots are still crazy enough to keep me interested. But they need to start being more ambitious with those cases; more recurring criminals and corrupt cops, more investment in one case, and have that case impact the city in a big way.

And Bruce and Selina have really only had two real stories so far. and they all start incredibly slow, before kicking into gear whenever they're actually together. They need to get more out of those storylines. Having them tutor each other in their respective worlds would be the first step.

Great episode. Favorite bit was Selina and Bruce vs. Reggie. The Ogre may be an interesting upcoming villain but I found the flashbacks a bit tedious. Same for the Penguin story. The Fish story was great though, glad she's finally off that stupid island. That **** was getting old.

I hope Falcone is back before the end of the season. He is a very good character IMO.

I enjoyed this episode quite a bit...

For the first time since her capture, I was truly enthralled with Fish's storyline. Jada was knocking those scenes out of the park and actually had me rooting for her. They don't always give her the best material, but when they do, she's captivating. Frankly, I'm just relieved that her story didn't end on the island.

The Ogre plot is downright creepy, with the always excellent Milo Ventimiglia delivering in spades. I know the show has been teasing his upcoming fling with Barbara, but why do I have the sinking feeling that Heller will break from the mythology and have him kill Leslie instead.

Can't say I loved the fact that Selina killed Reggie. I guess it makes sense, with her street kid mentality, but it still felt rather abrupt. Hopefully it's analyzed a little deeper in the next few episodes.
