The Avengers Guardians of the Galaxy (2014): Will tie-in with The Avengers

Correct. They don't interfere with Marvel Studios or Marvels comics.

Yes I understand they are autonomous/semi-autonoumous, which is great, but I assumed they'd have a final say on signing off on a big project considering that this will probably be expensive.

Marvel has to be doing this to troll DC. Rocket effin' Raccoon is getting a movie before Wonder Woman and the Flash, LMFAO.
EASY now! :woot: careful not to tred into touchy areas.

TECHNICALLY it's Waner Bros, not DC, screwing things up. I'd like to see the actual guys writing and drawing DC's comics make the movies.
PERSONALLY I think their tv shows have done better than MOST of the movies over at Warner.

Well, Avengers did bring them alot of money back, so if they keep it up Disney won't mind spending cash on movies.
From what I recall Disney already knows how the rest of the movies are layed out all the way up to the Avengers finale in 2017.

2017? Where did you get that. It appears as if Avengers 2 is set for 2015. Unless they push it back to 2016 for Ant-Man?

Also Disney and Marvel seem have a wonderful relationship by all accounts. Disney just seems to "get it". They've given Feige and company full faith and credit and they are doing their job promoting. It's win-win with lots of $$$$ being won! Disney said they wanted to target the adolescent male audience, well Marvel gave it to them and then some!

There is a rumor about some big event occuring in the MCU in 2017. IIRC

If this somehow someday got a sequel. Should Alvin & The Chipmunks be in the sequel ? Do a Chipmunks 4 where they launch into space at the end & voila they run into these guys. Rocket Raccoon should get some fury friends. Or MARVEL can do their own version of three Chipmunks. This is my random thought of the day. Feel free to ignore it if you want

If they do appear hopefully it's for Rocket to blast em. Or Cosmo to chase them out of the movie or something.

Which is why I still think Thanos' big movie will be Avengers 3.

If its an Infinity Gauntlet Story,

that sounds like a pretty big event to me.

ALSO, if he is kept to Avengers 2, so far we know nothing of the IG. Or the gems. Can Thor 2, and Guardians REALLY give it justice? I feel like 2 movies will not be enough to establish Thanos and the infinity gauntlet, and the gems.

Which is why I think The Infinity Gauntlet won't be a major player, in terms of being used, till phase 3.

I think this will be Thanos' first run as a villain before he gets really big bad in the Avengers 3

Yeah i hope that's what happens so we get to know the villain better. Its like how we got to know Loki right before avengers

poor silver surfer trapped on earth on the shelf at fox, no longer able to soar the cosmos or join the MCU.

Unless Marvel Studios tries to pretend Thor 1 never happened, or that the Gauntlet seen there in Odin's Treasury was a fake (not bloody likely: the Cask sure as Hel wasn't fake, now, was it.....?), then the inescapable truth is that the Infinity Gauntlet has already happened in the past in the MCU. And Thanos lost the glove. Probably to Odin. So there won't be any Infinity Gauntlet series here, or gathering of the Gems; instead, it'll all be about Thanos trying to get his glove back from Asgard.

Guardians of the Galaxy has been officially announced an a release date has been set. What does it take for the film to get its own forum? If it's some sort of space issue, just shutter the Green Lantern or Ghost Rider forums to make room. Everyone knows that both of those franchises are dead for the foreseeable future. :o

Hear! Hear! And don't forget Ant-Man!

Hell close Justice League too. Like that's even going to happen. :oldrazz:

Yes on closing Justice League forums.

Guardians of the Galaxy is set for August 1 2014.

He only knows three words. Who plays him isn't really important if they stick with that.

Michael Clarke Duncan would be wasted on Groot.

I know i'm thinking too much into it, but just hear me out haha. i'm sure they threw Thanos' glove in Odin's vault just to give something for the fans to drool and speculate over. But if it was the Infinity Gauntlet wouldn't it be pointless to have in Odin's vault? The glove itself is powerless without the gems (at least to my knowledge) and i'm pretty sure Odin would be smart enough not to keep the gems attached to it. Anyone could just break in to the vault and have the power of a God! It would also be too much temptation for Thor and especialllly Loki! They could copy the story in Warlock and the Infinity Watch series, where each gem is assigned to a different character to watch and protect, so that no one could ever collect all the gems again. So basically what i'm trying to say is they should just maybe forget about it appearing in Thor since it's kind of pointless unless they think of a clever way to explain why it's there, im sure someone on this forum could give a good one though! lol I'd be interested to hear it!

The only evidence of a JL movie in the works are some quotes from WB execs and anonymous sources, whereas Guardians of the Galaxy was officially announced by Marvel at ComicCon. I'm not saying there won't be a JL movie, someday, but GotG is a done deal. It has a script, concept art, a gun-toting raccoon and a date with Thanos. That being the case, GotG ought to have it's own forum now.

It is entirely possible, if not probable, that the origin of the Infinity Gauntlet will be different in the MCU from the comic book version, the same way the Cosmic Cube/Tesseract has a different backstory. In the comics, the Cosmic Cube was an artifact created on Earth by AIM; an earlier version was created by the Skrulls thousands of years before that. In the MCU those origins were not alluded to and we don't know how the Tesseract ended up in Odin's vault, nor how it came to be in that crypt in Norway.

Something similar could be the case with the Gauntlet. There are any number of ways they might explain Odin's possession of the thing that would make sense in the cinematic universe. In the comic version, the origin of the Infinity Gems themselves had nothing to do with Thanos; he merely discovered their power and usurped them from their owners. Perhaps in the MCU Odin collected the gems for his own purposes and Thanos will attempt to steal them to further his mad plans. That would simplify the scenario somewhat by eliminating the Elders from the equation while expanding Odin's role and power. It will be interesting to see how the writers choose to handle it.

Leave the JLA forum, wait for the Ant-Man one...JLA probably generates too many thread creations in the DC Film board to not split it off.

Delete Ghost Rider/ Green Lantern...and give us our Guardians forum!

They wouldn't be autonomous if they needed Disney to sign off on projects.

As for the Infinity Gauntlet, I very much doubt they'll have the entire thing sitting in Odin's vault fully assembled. It might be like that fake Tesseract that the Red Skull found. Just a duplicate and not the real thing. Or maybe it's the gauntlet but only one real gem on it. Point is, I don't think they're beholden to an Easter egg that was seen for the briefest of moments, anymore than Cap's shield had to be made by Tony just because it showed up as an Easter Egg in Iron Man and Iron Man 2.

Moreover, it just makes more narrative sense if it's not sitting there all in one set. What's more dramatic? Thanos tracking down each gem one by one, and overcoming whatever different obstacles present themselves, or just grabbing a glove off a pedestal in Odin's vault room?

Which is why I still think Thanos' big movie will be Avengers 3.

I completely agree. I'm absolutely convinced that Thanos won't be the main villain until Avengers 3, and that it'll be the Infinity Gauntlet story. As for his appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy, my theory is that he WON'T be the villain in that. Rather, he'll be allying himself with the Guardians or otherwise manipulating them to help him overcome some other villain, and unbeknownst to the Guardians he'll pick up an Infinity Gem along the way. Personally speaking, my money is on the Universal Church of Truth being the villains in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
