Star-Lord also goes [BLACKOUT]"Han" on Korath[/BLACKOUT].
Quill is so Han Solo/Indy. His lack of notoriety isn't really that much of a difference. Heck that is very Han. Delusions of grandeur. And Han is every bit the "lucky idiot".I don't think the characters were generic. They were purposefully subversion's of generic archetypes, or at least put unique spins on them. Particularly Quill, Drax and Gamora.
Quill - The charming infamous rogue who gets the girl, kicks ass and always has a plan. But this time he was actually self delusional, no one actually knows who he is. He's a bit of an idiot who seemed more lucky than prudent.
Drax - The raging revenge seeking lunatic. Although this time he had a kinda child like naivete about him.
Gamora - The bad ass female who is proud of that fact. Well Gamora actually seems ashamed of it and wants to relinquish that moniker.
I saw that as a play on [BLACKOUT]"Han shoots first"[/BLACKOUT], but maybe that is just me. It reminded me of a scene from Serenity, which was clearly based on the infamous scene. How so?

Drax was the bruiser, with a heart of gold.
I never got the idea that Gamora minded being a badass female. Her problem was being associated with some of the most evil beings in the entire universe. Which is most certainly not uncommon. The badass female attempting to escape her ugly past? Common as it gets really.
I am already a fan. I prefer the look here to what we saw at the end of the Avengers, though I also definitely agree that it is an adjustment.I was happy with Thanos but I think at first it felt off to me too, BUUUT I think it is one of those things we will accept and love over time, because it WAS well done, just I think the fact we FINALLY get to put a voice and actor behind it, it just feels weird at first and we were so in love with his look in Avengers that we feel slightly dissapointed about it, but he will change in each movie he is in I imagine and for the better, I loved his voice and dialouge, all we need is a different shade of purple and we good, Whedon will most likely go more in his direction most likely.
I think what makes it work so well, is that Peter and Rocket are turned up to 11, and that Groot is irresistibly adorable. Drax is also just simply hilarious. Really, when I think about it, other then Gamora, they are all really lovable. Even Drax, which I did not expect. In most other films, you'd get one of them. One of those who is so bizarre and OTT, that seeing this clash like this makes for good fun.Hmmm yea perhaps you are right. I think what distinguish's them is their personalities and basically, how they are "dressed up". Basically like the film.
It's not what the film is about, it's HOW it's about it.

Also, his [BLACKOUT]engine cutting out [/BLACKOUT]was so the MF in ESB.![]()
Which is why I wish they had went the extra mile back in 2012, and had the "final look" ready. But It is a small annoyance compared to the joy I will get from watching Brolin act the crap out of the role.It seems obvious his look at the end of Avengers wouldn't be what we would get going forward. That was them quickly just throwing an actor in with the makeup and effects etc just to give us an idea of Thanos and things to come with that stinger. I didn't expect him to look like he did at the end of Avengers. I dunno why some are so surprised. He now basically looks like what TA concept art of him looked like. So it makes sense.

I can't remember the line exactly, but the words Drax used to identify Peter during the prison break was beyond hilarious.BEHOLD! Yea Drax was awesome in this. Definitely the biggest surprise for me.
And they actually had a Celestial in the movie destroying a planet. That's faith in the characters and mythos. No ***** footing around like Fox did with Galactus.

Yeah, I wouldn't give back that tease. Also, if they cast the role back in 2012, what are the chances it would have actually been Brolin? I am very happy where we are.I hear ya it would have been better obviously if they had cast Brolin from the get go and had his design all set up and ready for that stinger in TA. It's still a great exciting tease though. But now they can really build on him more from here forward with a plan so it should work out in the end.
Before seeing it i was thinking they should have him show some power. Do something.
But then, the way he was acting towards Ronan, who was enraged and blathering on about destroying Xandar... you can tell Thanos thinks destroying mere planets is simply childs business. He was kinda amused at it, like a adult smirking at a child throwing a tantrum.
I do think it would be wise to flesh him out more in phase 3 though. Give him a big sequence where i dunno, he kills Odin or Loki and collects the Tesseract or something.
Obscurer of light. You mean that scary cloud Galactus, so badass![]()

I do think it was a little weird how they handled Thanos. So little, that he almost felt out of place in the story. Before seeing it i was thinking they should have him show some power. Do something.

Yea so far it's mainly been lip service. I did like him in this film, but there is a risk Marvel is being a bit too cute with him. They need to do something big with him soon or when he eventually turns up in A3 it could be anti-climatic.
I wouldn't even mind a film based on Thanos Quest.
