Nor Super-Skrull, obviously, since his powerset derives directly from the FF.

And yes, Feige has spoken about that several times. It's obvious to everyone except Poni that the Skrulls --- like the Maximoffs, and probably plenty of other cases we haven't even touched on yet --- have a "conditional use" clause built in.

Kind quirky to divide the rights between a Super Skrull and the rest of the Skrulls.

I think this 'Skrull' rights might be a lot more complicated than what we know. I think it might be like the creators of Superman vs DC Comics. If the family wins back Superman, they can only own Krypton, Lex Luthor, Perry White, etc, while DC gets to keep the current Superman logo, Brainiac, Darkseid and the other Superman rogues, etc.

So I think Marvel owns partial rights to the Skrulls, but it depends on the cleverness of the narrative to make it all work without any legal problems.

Where in that interview did he say that? He never even mention anything about the name "Skrulls."
When talking to the interviewer about why they used the Chitauri Feige says that "that's why we chose that name" referring to the rights issue with the Skrulls. So I imagine that Marvel can use certain elements of the Skrulls like their shape-shifting ability and their basic societal structure and design but they can't actually refer to them as 'Skrulls'.

Not really. Super Skrull belongs to Fox specifically because his powers mimic the FF's. That is why Marvel cannot use him in its films. However, Marvel can use the Skrull race and, from what Feige has said, even the name.

I'm pretty sure he said the opposite about being able to use the name.

Marvel kinda missed the boat on the shapeshifting abilities altogether. The comic-book Chitauri (who were Ultimate Skrulls By Another Name) *did* have the shapeshifting ability, but Avengers obviously didn't use that. Doesn't mean the Chitauri can't shapeshift at all, or that they won't display the ability in future movies, but people will question then why they didn't do that in TA1. A "Secret Invasion" infiltration would've been far more effective than the "let's gate in en-masse and blow up Manhattan" strategy.

that's why it seems the aliens were the Chitauri pretty much in name only
they didn't look like them, worked for Thanos, and didn't have their abilities
Marvel just knew it was a lesser known group who they could do what they want with in the film
If they plan to do anything Secret Invasion-related, I'm sure they would use the actual, recognizable Skrulls

Ya, but my point is that is mindless because a Super Skrull IS a Skrull. How ridiculous would it be for him to appear in a FF4 sans the rest of his race?

You know what I'm wondering? If either Marvel or Fox decided to use Quicksilver, Scarlet With, or the Skrulls first, does that prohibit the other studio from ever using those characters? Or is it possible that we could see those characters being used simultaneously by both studios? If so would they have to use different actors? Could they possible connect each universe together?

They can probably use them at the same time, Fox just can't alude to their Avengers connection and Marvel can't alude to their mutant connection...unless they reworked the contracts. They probably could't use the same actors either.

And Marvel wouldn't be able to use the name "Skrulls", so while Fox and Marvel might use similar alien races only Fox would be able to call them "Skrulls", although I'm, wondering what kind of limitations Fox have with the Skrulls since Feige implied the contractual issues sort of go both ways.

So they haven't released a GotG trailer yet, does anyone else get the impression they're trivializing this movie in favor of Iron Man 3? I'm feeling slighted

Why would they have released a trailer for GotG? Filming hasn't even started yet.

Are you serious with this?

Chewy, the movie doesn't come out for another year and a half.

He's joking about some kid in the Thor threads moaning about IM3 getting all the spotlight.

The ships in the background of the GotG concept art (if they are ships, as Sam pointed out) are similar to this Nova ship from Marvel NOW Nova #1.

Which just now came out.
So it's a case of the GOTG concept art inspiring this year's Marvel comics, not vice versa.
