So Star Lord has his helmet in the new comics but redesigned I have to admit this look is less generic than the Mass effect armor we've been seeing. I still prefer the old suits especially for Gamora.

Yeah his actual battle suit looks better than...I guess we can call what he was wearing a lounging suit. But yeah, still not fond of Gamora's design here...they need to bring back the sword and a more amazon-battle warrior outfit. Just look at the move design...it's true to classic Gamora without making the outfit a strap.

It really does look like McNiven and Bendis are going for a Mass Effect/Halo aesthetic, which is made all the more clear by the type of weapons they're using (photon staffs and axes...lol).

It's not a bad thing, especially since those are the properties most people associate with space opera these days, but I was hoping for more along the lines of a contemporary aesthetic without all the shiny suits and weapons. More like what we had back in the 70s and 80s where characters would wear clothing reminiscent of Earth battle rags and the weapons were just...weapons. Think the original Mobile Suit Gundam, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, or even the original Star Wars. Those are some great space operas that don't use all the gimmicky futuristic weapons and space suits...

But, I guess we'll just have to wait for another cycle before that kind of space flare is back in style.

Physicality is right. Acting is an x factor and can go either way. If he was cast then I trust Marvel.

James Gunn and Marvel would know best what actors work with what they've created. I completely trust Gunn to only cast people who match what he wants to portray artistically.

That isn't Star Lord, it's Iron Man in his comic book version of the deep space armor. He was invited to join the Guardians and went out into space to meet up with them. Star Lord appears on the next page, wearing something very much like his original suit from his first appearance.
