Horror Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein

Damn, 2 and half hours? Would still sit through it in the theaters...

New Vanity Fair article with some official stills:

Friendly Reminder: If this doesn't get a physical release, I will burn Netflix to the ground.

But if I had to guess, I'm thinking it'll be another Criterion disc release like GDT's Pinocchio.

Criterion has gotten their hooks into Cronos, The Devil’s Backbone, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, Pinocchio and will soon be doing Nightmare Alley.

Practically everything of his outside of his franchise stuff (Blade II, the Hellboys, Pacific Rim) and the movie he dislikes (Mimic). Given they’ve also given a number of streaming films physical releases lately, I feel like they’ll probably do Frankenstein as well. It’s just a matter of when.

Elordi feels like such a better fit for this than Garfield. I know the monster isn’t wholly evil but he needs to be a menacing wretch. It’s hard to picture Garfield like that. But Elordi can just be straight-up terrifying.

Garfield is a much more compelling actor to watch, so I’m sure he would’ve pulled it off with some added prosthetics for height and what not.

Hopefully Elordi pulls it off. His appearance (though covered) in the teaser is more comic booky than terrifying to me, but I’ll reserve judgment until the actual film.

I’ve never been as high on Garfield as everyone else is. He’s a good actor but I find him overpraised.
