i think del Toro would do a netflix Mountain of Madness movie in a second if they would give it a normal theatrical realese. a movie like this need to be experienced by a group of people on the big screen.Guillermo is easily my favorite creature designer in the business today. He's practically unrivaled. Even a design that is derivative of Abe Sapien is still a sight to behold.
Not to open old wounds, but depending on the rights situation, I really think Guillermo should approach Netflix or Amazon Studios about At the Mountains of Madness. I mean hell, Netflix just gave Scorsese $100 million for The Irishman. If Guillermo still has a desire to make that film, these streaming companies may be his best bet.
I need to see his Elder Things and Shoggoths. My life is incomplete without them.
I'd love to see that. Who knows, maybe if Shape of Water turns out to be a success, he'll be able to make this project afterward.Guillermo is easily my favorite creature designer in the business today. In that case, Amazon Studios would probably be a better fit. They gave Manchester by the Sea and The Big Sick theatrical releases, and I assume Last Flag Flying is getting one as well.
Still, Netflix just fronted $100 million for Scorsese's The Irishman. Unless the Mountains film rights are tied up with one of the major Hollywood studios, I think it'd at least be worth a conversation with one of these streaming companies. A $100-million-dollar, R-rated horror film may not be as much of a risk for them as it is for a Hollywood studio.
The fishman looks nothing like Abe Sapien by the way... you people are so freaking racist.
It's totally going to be a hit.
Honestly I don't know what's next for him. I think he's always wanted to do Cthulhu which would be amazing
