Guillermo del Toro's "The Shape of Water"

I am so excited that that is just the real actual poster and not just something like a Mondo poster. Very exciting. Can't wait to see it hanging in a theater.

This is definetly on my list of movies to see.

Oh my gosh it looks so beautiful! And Sally Hawkins is always amazing. I can tell I'm going to love this!

This looks like old school Del Toro. Like one of his Spanish films he would have made in the early 2000s.

The colours on the creature are beautiful.

Guillermo is easily my favorite creature designer in the business today. He's practically unrivaled. Even a design that is derivative of Abe Sapien is still a sight to behold.

Not to open old wounds, but depending on the rights situation, I really think Guillermo should approach Netflix or Amazon Studios about At the Mountains of Madness. I mean hell, Netflix just gave Scorsese $100 million for The Irishman. If Guillermo still has a desire to make that film, these streaming companies may be his best bet.

I need to see his Elder Things and Shoggoths. My life is incomplete without them.

i think del Toro would do a netflix Mountain of Madness movie in a second if they would give it a normal theatrical realese. a movie like this need to be experienced by a group of people on the big screen.

In that case, Amazon Studios would probably be a better fit. They gave Manchester by the Sea and The Big Sick theatrical releases, and I assume Last Flag Flying is getting one as well.

Still, Netflix just fronted $100 million for Scorsese's The Irishman. Unless the Mountains film rights are tied up with one of the major Hollywood studios, I think it'd at least be worth a conversation with one of these streaming companies. A $100-million-dollar, R-rated horror film may not be as much of a risk for them as it is for a Hollywood studio.

I'd love to see that. Who knows, maybe if Shape of Water turns out to be a success, he'll be able to make this project afterward.

It's totally going to be a hit.

Honestly I don't know what's next for him. I think he's always wanted to do Cthulhu which would be amazing

I'm absolutely interested. Any time Del Toro and Doug Jones get together to make some sort of live action fairy tale, we're in for something special.

That book needs someone like Del Toro to even attempt it. I started rereading it the other day. I forgot it's a bit of a tough read at first.

I have a feeling fishman may not be as benevolent as that lady seems to think.

I see little reason to believe this will catch on much to be honest. I do think it will be pushed as more of a prestige film given its release date but will those kinds of audiences be interested?

Nonsense, the same crowd who made pan's labyrinth and baby driver a success will do the same for this! People love fish!

A love story between a mute woman and a fish man... I'll watch it.

The short film takes place in a modernish post apocalyptic world. GDT just pretty much took that and placed it in the past. lol

Hell, even the actress from the short looks exactly like the lead in this one. How long will it take for this to spread? Hmmm.
