UPDATE
I've been really busy running around today but I wanted to drop a line here and let you guys know that things went relatively well today. I met with David and his lawyer this morning. Also present was my lawyer, her assistant and Jason. We met in a conference room at my lawyer's firm.
There were no sun-glasses on Dave's face today. Unlike our last meeting, he didn't look haggard or as if he hadn't slept in days. He looked fairly refreshed and even though he was very serious (as we all were) he seemed to be at peace with what we had to do. Jason was a little late in joining us (he was still on duty) but I was grateful that he was there for me.
We pretty much let our lawyers do most of the talking and negotiating, but out of David and I, I had the most to say--and the most to demand. I am getting the house in Michigan. He will be retaining the home in Los Angeles. We will be selling the penthouse in New York, ergo, no one is getting it. LOL It's where we met, where we lived and where the most memories are. Neither of us are interested in keeping that piece of our lives
in our lives. I think Jason was most happy about this...
Dave will be reimbursing me for a good sum of money that I've been paying towards cars we own and the L.A. house note, retroactively back to the summer of last year. Very happy about that. There are a lot of other odds and ends that we had to work out--that I won't get into here. But needless to say, it all went over pretty smoothly. Dave did not contest anything I asked for. Not one thing--and that surprised me. He kept his eyes on either my lawyer or Jason the entire time; he rarely looked at me, except when I was being asked a question. And that's fine.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dave wasted no time in getting lost as he had to catch a flight back to the west coast tonight. But on his way out he nodded at me without saying a word. That's all I got, and that's all I needed.

It's officially over, and I think we've got some closure. I hope that in time we will have peace between us, but I'll settle for silence for now. I'm very, very happy that we settled all of this out of court. My attorney was outstanding...which is what I paid her to be.
Tommorrow, Jason and I are gonna spend the day driving around and looking for a new place for me in the city. We've been eyeing this one townhouse that has everything I'm looking for, but the price is a bit more than what I want to spend. I'll have to hire some movers to put all of the furniture and stuff at the old place in storage for now, as it's going up on the market right away. Jason wants to keep his apartment for now and not move in 100%, and that's okay I think. He still hasn't said a peep about his actions at the gay club and I'm not pressing him about it. We're both just acting like we never went...and that's weird as hell. LOL
BTW, the two dudes that attacked me in the theatre did get some time in the hole. They have since been recently released but are still currently on probation. Apparently both had records so the punishment was heavier and they'll be doing some community service as well. Turns out, they weren't even from our area.
