Deadpool HARD as STEEL - The COLOSSUS Thread

You could also read it as Colossus getting offended that DP called them a 'Boy Band'

that's how I kinda saw it, he was like "f**k you, we're not a damn boy band"

Yeah, he has a pretty high opinion of the X-Men so he does not want anybody referring to it as a boyband.

Speculation as to why Colossus finally has a Russian accent:

The time shift caused a ripple which negated a coup in the Soviet Union and allowed for the Rasputin family to stay in their home and Piotr to be raised by his family before emigrating to the US together much later.

EDIT: just looked back in the thread and some others had the same idea. nice!

Or most simple explanation, that's how Deadpool hears him.

and it is pretty dumb to misinterpret that as it's extremely straight forward. Only an idiot thinks that deadpool actually thinks that he's asked to join a boy band.

If you listen to the writers, the universe Deadpool is in is a bubble. Its not exactly the one in the timelines from Apocalypse or DOFP. It may reference things in them at times, but its really its own world. The Wade Wilson and Colossus of this film are not the same as the ones in the Singerverse.

I don't think they mean that to the extreme but even if they did they don't really have that option anymore. This film is too popular and will be tied to Cable and X-Force.

If a film is from Deadpool's point of view obviously there will be a different set of rules and tone. But nothing heavy enough to confuse other films he will be in. The basics need to stick.

Even with the newer films, like Gambit, they described it as not being as connected as the previous films. They aren't going down an exact Cinematic universe path like Marvel or WB. Between the writers on Deadpool and even Singer talking about the direction after Apocalypse, how things are not exactly set in stone, the connections between the films will not be concrete. The Fox mutant "universe" is more a multiverse of parallel worlds. Its been that way since X Men Origins, which diverged in many ways from the main films. Then First Class diverged even further.

These films are obviously made with the intent of being in the same universe. It's just that not everything flows well.

Right now Deadpool is the first out the gate of a new timeline. Let see how things look in 10 years. My assumption is that Gambit does not rely on anything in Deadpool's film , but eventually the two will cross.

Nobody can explain the details with Fox cause it's a mess. You just have to accept the changes.

I never thought once about the accent in the film. I dont think this is something that really needs explaining

I mean Cudmore had like one line in each film. Doesn't matter much. Also why does everybody think piotr was portrayed as dense? He was just the ultimate straight man to Deadpool. He has a high regard for the X-men which is why he reacted the way he did to Deadpool's comments about them. The jokes weren't going his head, he was annoyed.

I agree. Obviously that wasn't their first encounter and you can tell Wilson enjoys messing with him.

Ooh boy there's no going back from this Colossus, he was awesome. Loved how moral he was. Him alerting Angel Dust to her wardrobe malfunction was excellent, one of my favourite scenes

I loved the banter between Colossus, Negasonic and Deadpool. They did a great job in creating chemistry between the three characters.

The real bright spot that comes out of this for me(since Colossus is far an away my favorite X-Men character...what can I say, I just love Tank characters, same reason Juggernaut is my favorite X-Men villain) is that now there's a much better chance of Colossus getting his due in those other X-Men movies where he can be less of a caricature than he was in this film yet not completely shafted like he's been so far in this franchise. So I consider that a win.

I liked the use of Colossus but was their budget that tight that they couldn't have him in his normal form in the mansion and him steel up during the action scenes?

I was going to ask the same question. A normal Colossus in the mansion and taxi cab would actually save money. It took 5 actors to create Deadpool's Colossus.

You'd think they would cast at least one human variation. I wonder how there going to tackle this going forward? They might need to recast and give him with another actor and give him the Serkis mo cap treatment.

I'm going with the explanation that once he's in uniform, he stays metaled up. Because in human form, his entire entire uniform would just be a couple numbers too large.

I wonder did they not show him in human form due to the ne of DOFP. Cud more is Colossus in the mansion at the end in the future. So to get around that they just didn't show him in human form.

So Colossus was given more character and personality in this film than he did in 3 X-Men films. I enjoyed him in the film. Damn now I want Miller to tackle an X-Men film. Imagine what he'd do with the likes of Cyclops, Jean, Storm etc.:hmr:

I'm just gonna go with Miller not being able to find a 7 foot tall actor to portray Colossus the way Miller wanted Colossus to be depicted - gigantic and Russian.

Obviously when they do cast an actual actor to portray Colossus he won't be the size depicted in Deadpool, but they can probably just get around that by saying he grows in size when he metals up.

That's how it actually is in the comics.

Ditto. And despite being the straight man and contrast to Deadpool, he didn't come off as a goof. He's just this big Russian boy scout, who really does mean it.
