the interview is on comics2film, they say despite what singer says, and even if you thought 3 & 4 were Bad movies, they are not discounting them as they dont think thats appropriate, so they are still part of canon!

Personally, I'm glad they're avoiding the origin story route. I agree with Singer's STM/Smallville theory, and that no one really needs to be told Superman's origin again.
