The Dark Knight Harvey Dent/Two Face Thread

there's a lot of talk about how they are setting up for a possible 3rd movie. with the events that occur
two-face "dying," batman taking the blame for the murders he commits, joker being locked up(and the untimely passing of ledger). who would be the villain?
there are not many bat-villains that are a grounded into reality and would be physical and emotional/intellectual matches/threat that go beyond joker,two-face, ra's, scarecrow, and the mob.

Possible vilains?
Scarface, Officer Pettit, Mad Hatter, Riddler. There's a fair few yet.

yeah, but i'm not sure they could carry a movie. riddler is the only exception, maybe even a team up with him and hatter, but scarface would be laughable.
i kinda thought it would be two-face running the mob scene and an emergence of more "freak" villains, where two-face is the main villian and the other could have cameos.

i kinda thought it would be two-face running the mob scene.

But Two-Face hates the mob, he's not a conventional villain. That's why he killed Falcone and that's probably why he commited a few other Holiday murders. Take a rabid thirst for justice and a immoral obsession with chance and you get Two-Face. He wants to be the White Knight but upon his accident decides to go about it in entirely the wrong way.
I mean, why would a guy with so much bitterness and hatred be running the mob? If anything he would attract some Citizens For Batman stragglers. But not conventional goons, he hates them!

he doesn't necessarily hate the mob he hates injustice, after he becomes two-face he's already become everything he's fought so hard against.he was kind of a mobster in dark victory. going by how this movie will portray two-face it's
probably a good idea that they will kill him. he won't have anything to fight for if he kills maroni and the mobsters in this one.
which would make him useless for the next one. i know the character and i understand what you're saying, i thought it might be a better way to utilize the character if they do bring him back.

does anyone know how many times Face uses his coin cause all I've heard about is the scene between him and Sal

if i was batman i dont think i could punch 2face...the thought of eroding man-flesh covering my gloves is an unpleasant one

According to the guy who read the novelization
he uses it on Joker in the hospital scene.

Why do people want to be spoiled on everything?

Anyway, did anyone watch the Gotham Tonight clip? I just did with Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent on the show when the opening bank heist is being performed and it is pretty ****ing cool. The other GT episodes were kind of lame and cheesy, but this felt like a real interview of someone in Gotham City dealing with a lot of controversial subjects. It is probably because of Eckhart but it was really entertaining to hear him talk about Batman and dirty cops on the GCPD.

What were y'all's thoughts on it, then?

I'd hardly call what happens between Two Face and Batman a "fight".
They shouldn't have killed him off. But every second of Eckhart's Two Face makes it so much easier to forget Jones' effort. Its gotta be seen to be believed!

He uses it alot. They actually set up the coin flipping quit nicely. And unlike with Jones' two face, he actually has respect for the coin's decision....sort of.

I will have to say, and I don't want to spoil anything, but Two face is really more of Harvey with a nasty (and completely unbelievable scar on his face) more than two face.

He doesn't exactly take on a new persona. But he is still pretty awesome, tragic and the story line really packs a punch.

I don't think I'm spoiling anything here by saying that I thought the Harvey/Two-Face plot thread was done justice in The Dark Knight. Keep in mind that the purpose of the movie was to show his tragic transformation from the wholesome Harvey Dent to this disfigured man with a, well, disfigured view on life. It wasn't a plot thread of convenience *cough* Venom *cough*, but one with good character development; one that makes you truly feel for Harvey and his predicament. Fantastic film by the way!

And yes, as the above poster mentioned, Harvey uses the coin many times throughout the film.

It just occurred to me, if what we've heard so far in terms of spoilers is correct, then there's a much deeper meaning to the Dentmobile shirts we got that say "I Believe in Harvey Dent."

Batman supposedly takes the blame for the deaths Harvey caused, so the Gotham citizens don't ever falter in their belief that Harvey was an incorruptibly good man.

Oh, now that thought is making me sad. :csad:

I'm just really trying to keep every hope of Harvey still being alive open, and while i was reading DV last night i remembered that at the end he has a fall in the batcave. A fall that you'd assume he couldn't survive. Possibility that Nolan is doing the same thing here...?

I just want to see another film with Dent.

same here, I'm a fan of the character, and had hoped that they wouldn't throw away the character, I do realize that they want to use other villians in the sequal, but killing Two-face seems a waste of a great villian,IMO.

As current employee of an online news site... journalists can't possibly know everything about everything. Many a time have I messed up in a similar fashion, either out of ignorance or absent mindedness. :)
