The Dark Knight Harvey Dent/Two Face Thread

You think I didn't see the movie or something?

I meant that he's not the split personality guy as he is traditionally portrayed in the comics. It wasn't two people with one being more dominant than the other. . He was only referred to as Two-Face once, and he didn't actually become a second Two-Face guy, it was just a really pissed of Harvey. And I'm fine with that, it suited the movie great.

If you notice throughout the film, when he did "bad things" the left side of his face was illuminated, the right side was darkened. Showing the Two-Face side coming through. The correct term is borderline personality disorder. You have two-personalities, one usually being a darker/angrier form of the other, much like Two-Face was to Harvey Dent in the film. I thought he did considerably well for portraying it. He did research Borderline and Split Personality disorders.

Hole Shot - Thats what I was telling everyone after the first time I saw it. It will be a cover up. Pretend his dead and put him deep in Arkham as you say. Since Heath Ledgers death, even if this isnt what Nolan wanted to go with the character, I could see it happening.

I wonder if they
decided to bring two-face back from the 'dead'
, how it would go about...is it a mystery until the middle of the movie or so...or do we get explanations from the start? perhaps it could go the route of the long halloween with mobsters and cops getting hit left and right with batman in the middle of it all, already charged with the responsibility of many murders, trying to figure out who it is.

That would leave a big "where has Dent been" hole in the film

I always rolled my eyes when people were speculating about what would happen in the third movie (which is understandable, considering no one had even seen TDK), but having seen it............

I really want them to make a third one. They don't need to, The Dark Knight is an extremely solid film, and it feels complete, if not entirely "resolved". But there's a lot they can do with the characters.

People are right,
Two-Face can still be brought back. We assume he's dead, but if Gordon and Batman are willing to lie about the killings in order to preserve Dent's "hero" image, they may just be willing to lie about his death. After all, Dent's death is essential to the image they're building. That said, should they do a third one, and should they decide to continue Harvey's arc, they'd have too tread carefully and not make the return feel forced. They'd also need to have an excellent reason to include him in the story.

After seeing it again, i have a new thought.
Two-Face is supposed to be mad i thought. Crazy split personality mad.
And in Joker's last speech he says something about madness just needing a push.
Batman pushed Harvey of the building, maybe he's alive and in the next film we'll see Two-Face instead of pissed off Harvey?

I know you're all going to say no, it won't happen, but still. It's what i thought of straight away as i heard that Joker speech.

I could see it now...
the teaser trailer for "Batman 3"
shot of a cop walking inside a facility much similar to the asylum in silence of the lambs...
its arkham asylum
this guy (we only see him from the back, following him) walks past cells and attracts a whole lot of crazy howling and shouting

he walks past a certain cell where we hear a vague echo saying "'evening, coMMISSIONer"

then at last, we see that the cop we're following is Gordon... then he goes to a cell, and there we find Two Face, and they exchange lines like maybe

Two-Face: I heard that you had everybody think that Harvey Dent is dead
Gordon: Not really... we just couldn't let the people of Gotham remember you as this... abomination you've become
Two-Face: are you insulting my good looks?
Gordon: No. I meant what you've become... this killer.... this maniac... You were a good man, Harvey, How I wish you'd just snap out of it and join us back in the world...
Two-Face: Oh I assure you... I'll be back

(a bit corny, i know) :woot:

I apologize if this is a dumb question but I haven't seen the movie yet.

What's this I hear about Batman
saving Dent and not Rachel? Why?

Joker gives Batman the location of Rachel and Dent, but he switches the locations around. So when Batman arrives to the place he finds Dent instead of Rachel, he went with the intention of saving Rachel though.

So can anyone who has seen it verify if any of the Two-Face pics going around were the real deal? Or is it something that we haven't seen at all?

I'm kind of squeamish when it comes to deformed faces and stuff like that, which is weird considering I can watch the SAW movies without problem. So just how nasty looking is he?

If you're talking about those camera phone pics then yea they're real and once you see his face it's pretty grotesque looking.

You make a good point.
They lied about Gordon's death...even to his wife and kids. They could easily try to cover up Dent's death too.

Harvey gets plenty of screen time and you see Two-Face for like the last 30 minutes or so of the movie.

Good to know, I just hope he survives for the third film, Batman 3. Rumor is that he dies in this one.

I assumed Dent was dead, though it's entirely possible he's still alive.

Him being dead sort of wrapped everything up, what would Batman and Gordon do with him if he was still alive? He turned into a bit of a raving madman there and, like they said, Gotham can't see what has become of it's White Knight.

Though that may just be something that can be drawn upon in the future. Hmmm.

I'm reasonably sure Dent/Two Face is dead. Batman fell from the same height, but was heavily armored-he was wearing the bullet proof suit, so presumably a fall from the same height wouldn't kill Batman that it might a completely unprotected person.

That said, they foreshadowed the hell out of Dent's death. "You either become the hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." They made a HUGE deal about martyring Dent at the end-he had to die a hero. This is why Batman took the blame. If, say, he lived, and they haul him off to Arkham, then there's a good chance Dent could escape or leak information out and everyone would know that Harvey Dent/Two Face was the copkiller and his reputation would be destroyed. That would undermine Batman taking the blame and letting Dent be a hero, and preserving his efforts. I'm 99.9% certain Dent is dead at this point. Of course, there's no accounting for them being desperate to do something now that they cannot bring the Joker back though.

I agree he'd be a fun villain to keep around, but also keep in mind there are a lot more villains they may want to involve in this, rather than continually focusing on one for more than one movie.

He's not coming back. It would just look silly. Heck they didnt even replace Bruce Wayne's mansion lol what makes you think they'll come out in the 3rd movie with trucker hats and say "you just got punk'd kids". No, he's dead end of story. pretty weird since we all thought Joker was the 1 going to die but he was cut off and we went straight to Dent's death. infact this whole movie was probably about Dent anyways and I for 1 would be pretty tired seeing more of joker/two-face in #3. bring on the penguin lol now thats a character I would love to see Nolan make 'realistically possible in this world'!

In the scenes that Two face is in when the mean angry personality is talking they show the scarred side of his face, and when normal Harvey is talking they show the normal side of his face.

No, I think CHUD was referring to Nolan juxtaposing footage of Dent's performance with a more "evil" performance when creating the composite Two-Face visual. To make him appear more schizophrenic.

and of course a bulletproof outfit doesnt protect you from breaking things like a leg or neck... i think you can easily take serious damage through the suit... like in BB where bruce get those bruises from that jump of the policestation...

ok dent has nothing to protect him from but i think cause of the things above there is a good possibility that he is barely but still alive !

I still swear I saw him breathing. I'm not holding my breath or anything, but if you think about it, it does give them an easy out for clearing Batman's name in the third film. If Two-Face were to escape from Arkham, or where ever people want to speculate they took him to, his crimes would be exposed. Once again, I am really doubting he survived, but I still have hope.
