The Dark Knight Harvey Dent/Two Face Thread

Indeed, but he didn't seem to land in such a position.

He easily could have. He was being thrown backwards. His body could easily have gone back enough for him to land on his neck. Not that hard to believe at all, especially considering the script says he had a broken neck. Put that with Eckhart's comments, and dead.

I said he didn't seem to, I didn't say it was definite that he didn't. In any case, things are basically still as they were before Eckhart confirmed everything. Two-Face "died" in a way that he could easily be brought back if Nolan wanted to do so, but also died in a way he could believably stay dead.

I never said you said it was a definite. ;)

Aaron Eckhart Discusses The Future Of Harvey Dent! Do Not Read If You Haven't Seen THE DARK KNIGHT!

Beaks here...

Though I thought it was incredibly apparent that Harvey Dent/Two-Face was dead at the end of THE DARK KNIGHT, there are those who insist that he's not "movie dead" because we don't follow the character's corpse from embalming to interment (as has been the custom since Porter's THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY). Since I was fortunate enough to snag an interview with Aaron Eckhart today at the TOWELHEAD junket, I decided to ask him what he thought about such speculation.

Beaks: And now the obligatory question: can you conceive of any way in which you might be back in--

Aaron Eckhart: (Laughs) No.

Beaks: Not a chance?

Eckhart: No. I'm dead. I couldn't even get the words out of my mouth. "Hey, Chris, am I--?" "No. You're dead. You're dead."

Beaks: Because there has been a discussion amongst some fans about how he's never seen in the coffin.

Eckhart: Well, it'd be easier than anything to bring him back, but... it's like Chris said on the tour. He wasn't thinking about the next movie when he made [THE DARK KNIGHT]. All the vegetables were in this stew. I think that this franchise has shown that it doesn't have to bring back characters. I mean, there's still Catwoman. I've heard Angelina Jolie really wants to do Catwoman; I think that's a fantastic idea. I'll be a happy audience member this time.

And what's gone on with Heath and everything... I think Heath was the one that was going to come back. And since he can't... (Pauses) You know, Chris hasn't said that he's going to make another one.

Beaks: True. He's been on vacation. I spoke to David Goyer at Comic Con, and he said there have been no discussions.

Eckhart: (Smiling) He never said he's going to make another one. I'm sure they drove the Brinks truck up to his house and dumped money on his lawn. But I think Chris wants to go out and make other movies, too. And he should. He's an independent filmmaker at heart. He's got a lot of ideas.

Beaks: He's also got THE PRISONER somewhere in development. Maybe there would be something for you in that?

Eckhart: Give him a call. I mean, I'd love to work with Chris again. But he and Christian [Bale] have such a great thing going.

Case closed.

I'll have more TOWELHEAD related commentary from Eckhart next week.

I'm not sure if it's been posted, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

The script says:

How does one break his neck without landing on his head? :oldrazz: Batman fell feet-first, so him breaking his neck was not as probable.
Ya I am not talking about whats on the script, I am talking about what we see. The script could say Harvey got up and ran away but its the finished product we are analyzing.

I love his character if he comes bak great if he doesn't I'll get by. I do think that his arch was finished but that doesn't mean he can't have another one.:yay:

The worst part of the interview was when I winced with horror when Eckhart mentions how Ledger was possibly supposed to come back to reprise his role. His death still is a wound to me.

As for Harvey Two Face? Leave his ass dead. The psychology and situation was far too well done and realistic to bring him back. Don't turn him into a lame "I'm gonna rob the 2nd bank of Gotham" type crap. He's a much more complicated character than that, and ultimately from a realistic psycological stand point, the fact that he wanted to make Gordon suffer before he himself died makes all the more sense.

What did Harvey have to live for anymore? His future wife and family dead, his image now viciously scared. He was suicidal.

its hard to figure how they are going to exonerate batman for the murders though. twoface is dead, but i would've loved to see dent in a straight jacket in arkham at the beginning of the 3rd movie if they ever make it.

I personally love C-L-O-S-U-R-E on my damn villains man! You've got Batman (or any cool hero for that matter or whatever..even movie where there is good vs. evil) ....the villain MUST die in the end....I love it when that happens because odds are IF the villain doesn't die or gets marched off to jail (weak..) it's usually another like 2 to 3 years or sometimes not at all, before the sequel comes out...

..not to mention Superheros like Batman have such an extensively vast rogues gallery to pick villains from. I loved the way he fell to his death, although it was a shame Nolan didn't actually SHOW him fall, I thought that was kind of lame...so yes, Two-Face is an awesome character, but this is fantastic closure...

LEAVE HIM DEAD!!!!! :)

So since Two-Face is dead, are we gonna atleast get some cool, full-on promo stills of Eckhart in costume?

i'm sure it's been answered before, but i can't seem to find it anywhere. can anybody give me the list of people that two-face killed? i think the movie said he killed 6 people, and i couldn't come up with anywhere near that amount.

Guy in bar, Sal Maroni, Maroni's driver

ramirez lived, but wertz got killed. other than that, that's all i could think of. but i could've sworn gordon said that he killed 6. and i could only come up with 4 tops.

strange i seem to recall Gordon saying that "...Five people are dead and two of them are cops.."

.. and my thoughts on Two Face being alive, i think so. in Harvey Dents own words "you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villian.." In Gordons speech he says that "..Dent died a hero, not a hero we deserved, but the hero needed. .." In true hollywood fashion yes, Dent is dead, ..."Why should I hide who I REALLY am.." Two Face.. ..
oO( i almost wanna see this movie AGAIN ) *grins*

Lucius Fox is smiling just before he is typing in his name when he destroys the computer in the RnD room with all monitors, do you think its plausable that he recorded the conversation that Batman has with Gordon about Dent dying a hero.. .. maybe this is how The Batman will be exonerated.

oO( previous post i gave my thoughts as to why i thinks two face is alive..)

okay, five people. and i only counted one cop. wertz. ramirez lived "you live to fight another day", i think he said..

so maroni, his driver, wertz, maybe the guy in the bar. that's four people, and only one cop. and i don't even know if he killed the bar owner.

.. wonders if they counted the cop at the hospital, and if so what happened to Davis his partner that was posted at the hospital with him... hmmm. *grins* oO( thinks i want to see this movie again )

driver (possibly maroni) wertz, and the two cops at the hospital (because we are assuming they don't know anything about Jokers appearance there) and (possibly bar tender, most likely the bar tender since he was willing to kill Maronis driver)

Its too bad because he's probably the most badass villian ever.
