Harvey Dent/Two-Face Thread

It definitely has to be Colson’s death bringing Dent into the picture. There’s no way it can be the other way around because Edward was targeting the people who had been in office for many years.

I don’t think Abbott will take the role since he was cast in Kraven (isn’t it a similar role to Two Face too?). As you all could imagine, during my hiatus I was PISSED to learn the news that Marvel picked up Abbott lmao. I’m still mad haha. Maybe he can find time for Dent but I stick with him for Harv, I’m gonna set myself up for disappointment. So I gotta move on! :(

I think Majors should play a full on superhero.

Both have signed with Marvel, we will have to wait and see if their roles are just for one film and hope they kill off Abbott's character in Kraven for him to join Rob. Everyone at this point knows that Abbott is too good to be in those sony spin off films.

But if Abbott is not our Dent then I would go for Dev Patel

Yahya is good in a fun blockbuster like aquaman where he can play himself and have fun. Two Face demands more dramatic presence and an actor who can flex his rage with style.

I don't think anyone's suggested him before, but I think Theo James would be a good choice. The guys got The Time Travelers Wife and The White Lotus season 2 for HBO. He really impressed with that show Golden Boy a few years ago.

What have you seen him in besides Aquaman?
Candyman. Watchmen. Us. Matrix (well, until i shut that crap off). He was better in Candyman but not believable when he’s questioning his sanity. He doesn’t have the chops to pull off a convincing Harvey Dent, who deals with a scary split personality. I can name 50 actors more qualified. He’s the Gotham tv show choice.

Damn that last sentence was hard

And true lol. He’s the Henry Cavill casting choice. Both are better suited for a Bladerunner movie if you know what I mean.

Replicants are usually played by good actors like Rutger Hauer and Daryl Hannah though.

If he’s the only choice then I’d rather Harvey sit this one out.

Not to comment on Yahya and whether or not he'd be a good Two Face, but I've been saying for awhile now that it's probably best to let Harvey sit this trilogy out.

If the Battinson era was going to last longer than three films or if we knew Harvey was getting his own spinoff show on HBO Max to chronicle his origins outside of the films, that'd be one thing. But as it stands, we're working with the knowledge that Reeves is planning a trilogy and we have no reason to believe either which way that there might be a Two Face show in the works right now.

So just let Harvey rest like Riddler and Penguin did in the Nolan era.

I wouldn’t mind Harvey sitting this out but there is a open spot for the DA, so who are you going to give that role to? Some made up corrupt character again? Or follow the trail of influences like Long Halloween and slow burn the Harvey Dent arc? I vote for the latter. Make it a 2 film arc. It fits the story they’re telling and would say a lot about Bruce’s compassion and mental health if you bring in a new Dent.

They could. But I doubt they’re skipping Harvey.

I don’t think he’s essential for this trilogy to work. But it feels like the right universe for him does it not?

If the next reboot is one giant supernatural series...it wouldn’t hurt it one bit if Dent didn’t exist. I don’t think Harv needs to fit into every reboot. It’s just that...he’s in the Burton/Schumacher verse. He was almost in the 60’s tv series played by Clint Eastwood. Hell, technically Two-Face is in that universe because Shatner voiced the character opposite Adam West. Two-Face seems to be more popular among the general public because he’s a huge part of the biggest comic book movie of all time: TDK. So maybe he is essential? You guys tell me. Will people complain if he never shows up or will we hear crickets?

I honestly don’t know if the GA give a damn about Harvey Dent. Like, is he a part of the “big five”? Surely the “I Believe In Harvey Dent” marketing blew up globally in 2008. But we’re still at a point where most movie goers don’t remember the name of the actor who played him. Nor do they even remember Dent having a role in the other big Batman movie from 1989. So maybe there is no “big five” in their eyes. I don’t really think of him as a pop culture icon myself. Just a popular villain for the fans.

It’s almost as if the character has had some good luck being tossed into the ring with the big boys (and girls)...but bad luck in the sense that he hasn’t reached the top tier. If Reeves takes his time and hits a grand slam with Dent this decade, maybe he’ll reach that next level status..
