Harvey Dent/Two-Face Thread

Right. I say don’t use him at all if you’re not going all the way. But it’s an interesting question to ask, if they’d leave it open ended.

I’m with you on wanting to see non-Nolan picks before I see Reeves use Two-Face or Scarecrow, Bane, Ras Al Ghul. But I’m just wondering if you guys think it would be overkill having both Clayface and Two-Face in the same trilogy, one after another. Too many faces methinks!

Yeah, it'd be a bit too redundant. It'd be like doing Hush for movie 2, despite that being an extremely similar story to what we got for movie 1.

they had this cool dude in batman 89 tho:

He only agreed to play Harvey because he was under the impression he’d become Two-Face in the next movie. And we know that was the plan for Batman Continues.

But I don’t think it would work right now, with casting a good actor to just play a District Attorney named Harvey Dent. Even the general audience may be conditioned to expect more from him when the third film closes, and I don’t know if that’s the reaction Matt would want. Maybe it is! But I doubt it.

Thank you! I thought I was crazy for thinking that too. I brought that up here last year but now I can’t believe this is reality.

Yeah, he just happened to get Tommy Lee Jones'd, unfortunately.

lol i dislike tommy lee jones' version of two face so much.

billy dee for life!
even tho he wasn't that much in the movie, i thought billy dee was a pretty great harvey dent.
suave, intelligent, embattled but trying to stand up for justice in gotham city.
it's classic pre-2face harvey dent.

I wanted to hold off initially given you can tell quite varied stories with Riddler. But after the one we got, yeah it'd be pretty redundant.

Lol. I can see losers complaining about wokeness if this happened today.

Michael B. Jordan would be an awesome Harvey... Though, ideally, I would love for them to give us Jessica Dent! With the already established inspirations of Earth One, I think it would fit well.

Honestly, I don’t like Michael B Jordan very much as an actor. I think he’s a very one dimensional performer. Something about his acting feels a bit forced like he’s trying to be tough and smooth instead of making you believe that he’s naturally tough and smooth. And that’s kinda...all he does.

Maybe Jessica Dent is what they’ll do. With Harvey existing but “an old friend who passed away at a young age”. But we won’t hear the end of it online, that’s for sure. I don’t really care for it but I could get excited if they cast an incredible actress.

When Michael delivers his lines he just sounds like a rapper lol.

He pretty much just sneers as Killmonger.

Whoever they get to play Harvey is one thing, but after watching Vol. 1 of Stranger Things season 4, WB and Matt Reeves absolutely need to hire the makeup artists who created Vecna to do the prosthetics for Two-Face.

The same team also did the makeup for the Night King from Game of Thrones and Dead Strange from Multiverse of Madness. I think if Reeves includes Two-Face in his Batman films (and he should), then this is the team that should help bring him to life.

I have full confidence ProrenFx can do two face, their penguin and joker are great, so is a lot of their other works on HBO productions.

I say keep him and his team too. If you have a Batman movie with multiple villains that require intensive prosthetics like Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, why not bring on more than one makeup team to ease the burden on the department as a whole? I'm not sure if it's been done before but if VFX houses like Weta and ILM can both work on one film, like Avatar, why not two makeup teams? The budget for a Batman sequel could allow for it.

But why? Marino has proven that he can work on Joker, Penguin etc in the same movie.

Because while I think Marino does an excellent job with more realistic makeup, I think Barrie Gower's team does fantastic work with more surreal horror makeup, which is how I'd prefer Two-Face to be. I'm not saying Marino couldn't do it and in all likelihood he'd probably be the one to do it but this is just me wanting to see Gower's take on it.

It won’t happen though so may as well embrace the team they have. I wouldn’t mind the other dude taking over for the reboot though. I haven’t finished Stranger Things but I honestly didn’t even know it was makeup. I thought it was all CG. So I can’t say I was super impressed. Maybe it’s the rest of the body that threw me off since there’s tons of CG being used with that villain. But meh. I’ll stick with Marino. He gives a more natural horror look that fits this universe.

Speaking of Mike Marino, recently in the Joker thread, we were talking about the gang on the subway, and looking up the actor who played the leader, I found this pic of him in the makeup chair:

Two details that didn't show up for me in the film, one being his ear, which looks like an animal took a bite out of it, and a fairly gnarly scar along his cheek.

If true, that is a ****ing interesting casting choice.

If you wanna differentiate with the Symbol of Light Harvey ala TDK, you've gotta go full sympathetic mentally ill Harv. And this looks like one hell of a choice for that type of Harv
