Comedy Hbo's CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: SEASON 8

Jerry, you were literally *just* on Curb.

Interesting that he mentions both MASH and All in the Family, two shows that weren't politically charged at all. :o

And maybe this is better suited for the Hot Takes thread but I've never found Seinfeld to be funny. "Seinfeld" the show is funny but not because of him, literally everyone else on the show outshone him in that department.

I think Jerry had a certain level of charm that he brought to the show, but he was clearly the weakest of the core four, and if we’re looking at the post-series work from both Jerry and Larry, then we know who the real talent was in creating the show too.

Jerry was the “straight man” of the group so without him, the other characters don’t work.

And on the show, I found Jerry’s bad acting and almost cracking during takes some of the funniest stuff when playing off the others.

It’s absurd this show has never gotten Outstanding Comedy or any acting wins.

In the earlier seasons of the show it lost to whatever was popular at the time like Friends or Everybody Loves Raymond but it also didn't have much of a chance against the likes of Arrested Development, The Office and 30 Rock either. The closest shot it probably had was 2012 when Curb Season 8 lost to Modern Family Season 3. I forgot how much the Emmys awarded that show well after it was past its prime. I'm also partial to that season because Larry vs. Michael J. Fox is one of my favorite episodes.

Larry David not winning Best Actor in a Comedy is a bigger crime to me since he lost to both Jim Parsons and Jon Cryer.

That five year stretch of Chuck Lorre leads winning Best Actor was so annoying. You had Larry nominated, Steve Carell, Alec Baldwin… and those basic ass shows were walking away with wins??

Nonsense.

Carell never winning for The Office is another travesty.

Apparently, Larry David admitted he used Richard Lewis's death to get out of going to Kimmel's show. lol

I’m sorry… was she convinced this whole time that his campaign had nothing to do with advancing Trump’s interests?

Divorce is a concept that exists, Cheryl. :o

I’d be mad, but at least Curb has actually gotten nominated…

*stares longingly at It’s Always Sunny*

Kaitlin Olson at least got nominated for Hacks at one point, I believe, but I don't think the folks at Always Sunny ever expect they'd get nominated, let alone win. Glenn Howerton even said on an episode of the Always Sunny podcast when they talked about the Emmys that their show getting nominated "doesn't happen."

He kept his options open for so long (including a six-year-long gap between S8 and 9) that I kind of doubt Larry goes back on the end of Curb being the end, but it is exciting to hear he’s got ideas for anything.

Honestly? Create a new series for JLD. Let’s see life imitate art imitating life.
