I have seen Colin Farrell do great work, so I have no worries about him. With the right material, he is pretty awesome.

Yeah, especially his independent film work. I have high hopes. :)

I'm okay with Farrell being cast...but I'm a bit worried about Vaughn. He hasn't played it straight for awhile. Hope he doesn't force his comedy in scenes where it is not called for.

won't be any comedy, IMO. Vaughn is either going to be a disaster or a masterpiece.

I like it when Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn work together, so that should be great.

Kind of curious to see how they approach this in relation to the first season, considering the anthology of it all. With the other two similar shows on TV, American Horror Story and Fargo, you've got one (AHS) where the seasons all generally seem to be set in their own little universes, and the other (Fargo) where the next season will be a prequel to the first and it would seem that they'll all be canon with one another. Wonder how TD will go about it.

The dude doesn't have any real dramatic roles under his belt, but I remember being surprised by him in Into The Wild - as limited as that role actually was.

I think we'll get something close to how he played his character in The Cell.

Return to Paradise was one of his best roles, making me wish he'd do these serious roles more often. Never was a fan of his comedy crap. :(

Vaughn did a lot of dramatic stuff early on. A Cool Dry Place, Return to Paradise, The Cell. It was when Wedding Crashers was a major hit is when he started doing horrible comedies.

Both great castings. They'll play off each other extremely well.

Now they need to finish it off and get Brit Marling for the female lead role.

Oh...I'm sure he will try and be funny in certain scenes. It's in his nature. He can't go over the top also when he gets serious and dramatic either.

He needs to balance himself for once.

Been a loooong time since he has done anything other than comedy. He hasn't played a straight character for awhile. Hope he doesn't try too hard or go over the top with this ambiguous character.

I'm not worried about Vaughn at all since his earlier work showed he was capable of more than what was thrown at him in the 00's.

The way Vaughn has aged giving him tired and baggy eyes and all I think will work to his advantage if that character description is correct. With him being "a mobster trying to play it straight".

Farrell will do fine as well.

I'm pretty sure Vaughn is aware of what type of show TD is and what character Nic Pizzolatto wrote for him. It's stupid to assume he's going to veer from the script and go funny.

^indeed.

Has Nic P. said something about writing that character solely for him?

I remember him saying something about polishing up Rust and Marty to match up with Woody and Matt strengths after they had been cast.
