Doesn't matter who she is. But she is GOOD.

Anyway, I like McAdams for the role because even though she's always been good, there hasn't been a role that really defined her. And for me, besides About Time, Midnight in Paris and a few other movies, I always forget about her, for whatever reason. I think maybe the roles she picks as of late, some in great movies, she ends up being bit parts or supporting roles that nothing resonates. I guess I would like to see her more as the leading lady. Again.

Just seen the first season of this show myself - what a great ride it was and what a finale! I only have one thing to say after that climactic final confrontation - McConaughey's years as The Abs Guy finally came in handy. :o

I think someone else pointed this out earlier in the thread too, but one of the aspects which I really enjoyed about the first season was the fact that it was basically an 8-hour detective thriller in the vein of Se7en or Zodiac.

As for season 2, I'm looking forward to seeing Farrell and McAdams, not that keen on Vaughn tbh, but I'm definitely intrigued to see where they go with it.

Plus, y'know.....she'll probably get naked. :awesome:

I thought McAdams was actually quite good in Red Eye with Cillian Murphy.

Come to think of it, how was Cilian Murphy's name not attached at one point to the casting? I'd love to see him in a future season.

McAdams is great, but you know how it is, you get attached to your person choice for the role. Really wanted Brit Marling. But McAdams is still very nice.

Me too.

:wow:

Nothing has been more entertaining than True Detective season 2 dream casting. I think someone even suggested Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas at one point. :o

Strangely enough, McAdams most memorable performance is Mean Girls. I read (maybe it was Variety) that this character is the equivalent of Rust Cohle for this season. At least someone who could have that same impact. Damn. Just how ****ed up is this character?

Love this collection of talent. Farrell was excellent in In Bruges & 7 pyschopaths, Love actors that normally are in comedies goes against type casting, with Vaughn here, same thing for McAdams.

Liked McAdams in Midnight in Paris. Can't wait to see what she does with this.

So they did end up going with McAdams huh? Could have had better actress....but let's see how it turns out. Lets hope she shows Some skin.

This all sounds very familiar. Weren't we saying the exact same things about McConaughey four years ago? A guy who got pigeonholed in comedies and wasn't "a serious actor anymore," or "who can't act?"

Comedic actors are known for their strengths in drama. Just because the guy hasn't done drama in a while doesn't mean he's going to flop. Like I said previously, I really love the underdog component to this season thus far. I creates a whole new slew of expectations for the show instead of just comparing themselves to McConaughey and Harrelson.

My major hope it when this whole show is done, we can have multiple great seasons that are incredible for their own reasons and stand a part. Not to be constantly compared to.

But this is all assuming season 2 is great. If this fails, then the comparisons will be inevitable.

Great news about McAdams too. Hopefully this role dispels the accusations of misogyny of Pizzolatto. Which is sad because one of last season's major themes was misogyny. Pizzolatto did a great job conveying this too but that seemed to be overlooked by the criticisms of the show lacking strong female leads. It seemed to be misconstrued and turned around on him.

I wasn't saying the same things. McConag and Woody own Farrell and Vaughn IMO.

Vince Vaughn has done completely straight performances with no outright humor, so I see no reason to assume he'll insert inappropriate humor into his performance if it isn't called for.

Colin Farrell can be fine in the right role. This is the kind of material I could see him fitting in.

I'm not a big fan of Rachel McAdams or Taylor Kitsch. I find them both bland and "meh", though I know some strongly disagree with me especially about McAdams.

I hope Pizzalotto can avoid plagiarizing this season. Aside from that, I have no problems with the cast and the premise.

IMDB now lists Kitsch as regular cast, no longer just rumored so guess this means he was confirmed.....?

I would like to see an actual confirmation, probably won't get one until real news about filming comes out. :(

They are going to change it? I had no idea....

I'm asking if they are. The song they've used suits a Louisiana setting. Maybe they'll pick a new one because season two will be in Los Angeles, right?

Maybe. :) Hope it's good, I enjoyed the original one.
