I also just saw that they might be eyeing Kitsch for the lead role.

This is just depressing.

Kitsch makes more sense than Vaughn. He's a competent actor that never got the proper role for him.

TRUE DETECTIVE Season 2 Plot Details and Character Descriptions for Vince Vaughn, Elizabeth Moss, Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, and Michelle Forbes
The second season of True Detective will follow the death of Ben Caspar, the corrupt City Manager of a fictional California city who’s found brutally murdered amidst a potentially groundbreaking transportation deal that would forever change the freeway gridlock in California. Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out who did it. They soon discover their investigation has much broader and darker implications than they initially thought.

I think Vince Vaughn would be a nice choice.

So is this confirmed now? it seems like there have been so many confirmations of cast and non-confirmations the past month.

Vince Vaughn as the antagonist....? Bring that s**t on.

I guess if they are going to premiere this in January again, they are going to have to start filming really soon, right?

I guess I could live with Vaughn in this if the other actors have a lot more screentime, and it sounds like that will be the case. I like Farrell, Moss and Forbes, and Kitsch might be okay.

Kitch was amazing in The Normal Heart. Gambit banged Banner.

What is annoying & disturbing is people judging casting choices when they know nothing about the actor's work, or have heard that the actor is bad by internet standards or they saw him in one bad movie & just base their opinion on this. Amusing.

LOL, a near naked shower scene doesn't constitute an actual banging.I believe it was a near miss only. :p

Kitsch is awesome man, Carter failed for other reasons, not him. Can't blame a guy for trying to cash in on his fame. Gambit was bad but again he wasn't the worst thing in that movie and he could only do so much with what the script gave him. His head had to be in his bank account when it came to battleship to but when he wants to act he is damn good.

Oh yes, I can blame him for having the charisma of a piece of driftwood in John Carter. Granted, the film had a slew of problems, but I found Kitsch to be the biggest one of all. He was just lifeless in that role. And when you add in his Gambit character and his character in Battleship... you could argue that those movies would have sucked anyway (and you would be right) but he was still terrible in them. He was good in Normal Heart though so... maybe he's improved. I hope so, at least.

He was also quite good in Savages and Lone Survivor. :)

I'm surprised about it being another murder mystery. And here I thought Pizzolatto's comments about the Californian transportation system were a joke back in March.

Hopefully the satanic symbols and the occult aren't too similar to what we had last season.

My favorite aspect is the fact that three law enforcement agents form three different sets of government have to work together to find the killer. That's already unique.

I still need to see Lone Survivor. Savages... I would agree he was fine in it but something about that movie just made me stop watching it after about an hour. I don't know why exactly, but I just didn't give a crap about any of the characters.

I loved Savages. It's the only thing I've seen Aaron Johnson in that I thought he was good in. John Travolta was an added bonus. :)

Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss may have something a little more sinister than Don Draper to deal with next year. The Emmy nominee is a front-runner for one of television's most coveted roles: the female lead in Season 2 of HBO's True Detective, TheWrap reports.

Moss would play Ani Bezzerides, a sheriff from Monterey, Calif., who has a history of alcohol and gambling addictions after a difficult upbringing. The role shouldn't be much of a stretch for Moss, who won a Golden Globe for playing a small-town cop on Top of the Lake. Mad Men wrapped production at the end of June and the final seven episodes are set to air next year on AMC.

Battlestar Galactica and The Killing vet Michelle Forbes is also reportedly in talks for a role. She would either play the wife of rumored addition Vince Vaughn's character or the ex-wife of the character of another rumored star, Colin Farrell.

Reports of Vaughn's casting began circling Monday. Farrell and Friday Night Lights alum Taylor Kitsch are allegedly still in discussions to portray the two male leads.

Well the show is called True Detective and murder mystery is pretty much standard for the trope.

I guess maybe a missing person case could have been interesting? but it wouldn't probably be too different from a murder case in the end.

Yeah I figured each season would focus on a particular peculiar murder or serial myself. :)

He was great in Friday Night Lights(TV show) too, you need to watch that just because you're football fan, it's kinda where he got noticed.

Yeah, kinda boggles the mind for me that he never got an Emmy notice for Friday Night Lights, he's absolutely incredible in it.
