HBO's True Detective - Part 2

Despite Ray's flaws. I feel for this guy. His "I'm tired." response along with his whole conversation with Frank or Ani earlier say enough.
"I'm not tight with anyone."

Considering Vinci's level of corruption. The preview shows that they will capitalize on Ray's attack to gain more control. This may be far out of left field theory. What if Raven masked guy is someone with Vinci? Instead of him giving Ray the Caspere treatment they used non lethal shells on him? The attack on their man allows them to justify swinging more d*** on the case?
I know that sounds crazy.

Bezzerides is a sex addict, that's what I'm thinking anyway.

Nah Im not sure about that. At least not yet.

I think she see sex as evil or wrong, but at the same time is just into very not "normal", kinky s***.

Only 2 episodes in, but I don't think addiction has been shown. We only have 2 things. 1) the porn she was watching 2) she freaked out that guy with whatever she wanted to do

was I the only one that detected a little incest with Kitch character and his "mom" :csad:
Oh no youre not alone. I picked up on that too.

Still think he's gay though.

IM gonna reiterate what I said about Kitsch's character
Odds of him being gay?

Because the Viagra is one thing. But he just look so miserable to be getting a bj from a very attractive, seemingly nice woman.

If I had to guess his scars are from an abusive and homophobic family member.

and that ending WOW!!
I don't know if it is that exactly. Later when he's brooding on the balcony looking at some gay people it occurred to me that she might have tricked him out as a youngster. It could explain his unease with his girlfriend. He clearly has sexual problems from somewhere. :(

So, yea like others have said

***SPOILERS***

Looks like a mere flesh wound? Maybe rubber bullets or something that can break skin but not lethal? Just wanted to mess him up bad?

At least next episode Kitsch should be more involved in the story. He seemed on the outskirts for too much of it and his character felt useless

Yeah it's very weird and crappy I would say the next stage would've been incest.

I know that sounds crazy.

Those were lethal shells. The second shot very clearly tore his lower left abdomen open. Besides, it was a 12 gauge shotgun and at that range even 2 & 3/4 shells filled with rat shot can seriously mess up a human torso.

I definitely can sense something like that with her. Sex obsession seems to run in her family too, but we'll see what happens.

I was wondering about bean bag shells. How much of a difference between birdshot and rat shot? I'm not knowledgeable about shotguns. Know more about pistols. Regardless I'm sure his mobility will be more compromised than it already was.

Yeah his mobility is gonna be reduced significantly for a while unless they use some "movie magic" and he just bounces back. Im hoping there is a time jump so the show can make his recovery somewhat realistic.

He's
not dead guys. He's in a big shootout with Ani and Paul, plus he's in later scenes where he's clean shaven. It was probably rock salts/bean bag rounds from the killer as a warning.

I was shocked for a good minute or two, [blackout]but then I remembered the shot of Farrell in the ski mask shushing someone in the trailer[/blackout]. But still, damn.
Ummm that was in the premier when Ray goes to the journalists apartment to beat his ass.

I'm thinking Paul might just be more sexually traumatized and may not even have a definite sexual preference. He might be gay, but him looking at those two men may just be him curious of not knowing for sure. His homophobic comment may be caused by something else too. But then he might be straight and his own mother or something definitely ****ed him up to be averse to having sex with women. Either way, he hasn't shown much indication for sex of either sex.

This episode was good.

Is it just me or is the sound a little off on this show?

I don't know if it is just that some characters speak in a way that sounds like they are mumbling under their breathe or the sound mixing for this show is just bad.

I feel like Frank is going to become a lot more interesting now he is backed into a corner. His desperation makes him dangerous.

I felt sorry for Ray Velcoro. His 'son' really is all he has.

Yep.

That relationship screamed 'unresolved creepy issues'.

I think Kitsch character Paul may be gay or have some sexual repression type issues.

Being uninterested in receiving sexual favours, overly hostile to being hit on at the bank, bedroom performance issues and peeping on rent boys.

Kitsch character seems like he may be the flip side to Adam's character sexually

What was up with Ani Bezzerides watching porn? I wondered if she was going to start crying or something.

That doctor looked like Roger from American Dad

now that u mentioned these things I agree he seems awkward towards sex but it seemed he wanted that favor from the "actress" in the highway

It's a bit more dynamic than most TV shows because of the style of the show and the fact that it's HBO and not network, which means it isn't compressed to death and more cinematic. I haven't had any issues, I actually like the mix for the most part.

Spoilers (concerning that episode and anything previous) should be free reign the second the episode starts to air, basically how any Podcast about a tv show goes about it...

Yeah, but someone is probably still going to get pissy about it, so I'd rather avoid any ***** fits.

Yeah so after seeing 2 of the first 3 episodes, I can safely say f**k those critics. I have no idea what the hell they were going on about. This show is still terrific. Colin Farrell has been stealing it. All the leads have been doing a great job but Colin.....he scored big when he was offered the role of the already memorable character of Ray Velcoro.

^I feel the same way. I've really been enjoying this season. Don't know what episodes the critics were watching.

Ray continues to be greatness. "I can't smoke e-cigs because it would be too much like sucking a robot's dick". :lmao: The attack on him reminds me of [BLACKOUT]Jon Snow[/BLACKOUT] on [BLACKOUT]Game of Thrones[/BLACKOUT] in that I'm not concerned about it because I'm convinced he's not really dead. I don't know what explanation they've got cooked up to explain his survival, but I'm positive they've got one.

Ani is growing on me. McAdams is better when she's not trying to be a hardass.

Paul continues to bore me, but I am a little intrigued about the backstory involving his mom.

Frank's storyline has become really interesting all of a sudden. I wonder if and how he'll get out of his financial mess. Who was that guy he arranged to have beaten up?

The crow's head motif that's repeating itself on this show is very weird. Maybe there's a cult of some kind at work here.

I think its already been established that there is a secret cult.

That was a pretty good episode. I've gotta say, I really like Ray. I feel for the guy, because it winds up seeming like he sold his soul to the devil for the kind of reason most people would have (vengeance), but it seemed like he sold it for nothing when his marriage fell apart and the child he calls his son might not be his, but was born from that moment of violence. His "I'm tired" line said alot to me, and he just seems like the classic Noir character who tried to do the 'right' thing and just wound up doing the wrong thing for the right reason.

I'm pretty confident that Paul is in the closet, and just hasn't come to terms with it. The scene with his mom seemed pretty touchy, so I dunno maybe there's something more nefarious in his past. He did mention the burn on his shoulder was from before he served overseas. But, the way he talked about the guy at the bank who hit on him and him having to go to the bathroom and popping a pill so he could have sex with his girlfriend, and him looking at the male hookers on the street...yeah, pretty confident he's a sexually repressed gay man whose trying to be a straight man. There definitely seems to be a theme about sexual excess, what with Casper's home and his lifestyle along with Ani's sister, and maybe even the repression of sexuality...with Ani watching porn, and whatever the unexplained even with her boyfriend, or just **** buddy, that sounded like it was about some adventurous sex or something...and Paul's situation.

I mean, the only one outside of all of that is pretty much Ray, whose just apathetic about most of everything. But, damn that was a crazy ending. Note to everyone:
If you have a gun, and you find a big puddle of blood in a house, don't holster the weapon. Just, don't holster the damn thing.
