I think the guy's a talented actor whose career just kind of flamed out. He seems like someone who can fit into Pizzolatto's world and seems like he can be play a great character. It seems so specific. I just hope he can handle that Pizzolatto dialogue or we get a Vince Vaughn situation.

Yeah I'm definitely looking forward this. The cast alone has me interested, especially with Stephen Dorff involved. The dude is a great character actor IMO and I can't wait to see what kind of material they will give him.

Dorff is actor who shines when he is playing slightly sleazy or morally questionable types in my opinion.

I enjoyed Dorff in movies Blade, American Hero, Judgment Night, City of Industry & Blood and Wine.

It’s just been revealed that Justice League actor Ray Fisher — who portrayed Victor Stone, AKA Cyborg, in the superhero crossover — has been selected to help round out the cast of the third season of HBO’s hit series True Detective.

After a multi-year hiatus following a divisive second season, True Detective is back in development, with the season’s mystery involves a story in the Ozarks spanning three time periods. Deadline has just broke the news that Ray Fisher will be joining the anthology show’s ensemble as a supporting character — Freddy Burns, the son of lead character Wayne Hays (Mahershala Ali).

I thought Fisher was pretty damn good in JL, even if that character was too somber. He should suit this show just fine.

The Ozarks are also notoriously drug/crime-addled, which makes it a good fit.

They're actually filming in the Ozarks too which will set it apart from Ozark which films in Atlanta. Given how they film landscape and Pizzolatto's relationship to it, and Saulnier's directing I doubt we'll be thinking of that show.

I think I've made peace with the fact that this points to being The Last Crusade of these seasons. It'll go back to what worked before in feel but hopefully Pizzolatto comes up with a center hook that can make it unique. If we're just gonna see Ali being interrogated saying let me tell you what happened way back then I'm gonna be upset.

I wonder if Ali is going to be aged up with make up for a time jump like they did with McConaughey because Fisher is only 13 years younger than him.

‘True Detective’: Director Jeremy Saulnier Exits Early; Daniel Sackheim Joins

Director and executive producer Jeremy Saulnier has completed the first two episodes of True Detective Season 3 and will be departing the production due to scheduling issues. Daniel Sackheim has come on board as a director and executive producer for the series alongside series creator and director Nic Pizzolatto,” HBO said in a statement.

Saulnier had been expected to direct the first three episodes.

The third installment of True Detective tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods. Mahershala Ali and Carmen Ejogo lead the ensemble cast which also includes Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, Mamie Gummer and Ray Fisher.

Sackheim’s TV directing credits include Ozark, Better Call Saul, The Man in the High Castle, Fear the Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, among others. He most recently directed an episode of The First for Hulu.


They should of gone with him from the start,he also directed some of the best episodes of The Americans.
