I saw the headline over and hour ago, and I am STILL in shock.

The will not recast him. This is truly sad sad sad news. I did start to cry, I admit it is sad personally and as well to us Batman fans. Though nothing will happen to TDK, but I hope they put at the begining of TDK "In Memory of Heath Ledger"

Truly a sad day, it feels as if I have lost a personal close friend.

No way. DK will be remembered as a great final role for Ledger. Then the show always goes on.

It's obviously going to dramatically effect the marketing. The actors still involved will be unable to talk about anything other than Ledger. It will be impossible for subsequent trailers and TV spots either to ignore him or to focus on the evil of his role.

It has the potential either to completely derail the movie, or to make it one of the most memorable classics of all time.

As for the future of the franchise, well, I suppose it reduces the chances of The Joker being seen again. It may even effect the way that TDK is cut, perhaps to avoid a death scene or anything too harrowing involving Heath. I can't see how another actor can step into his shoes, now. I would imagine that it reduces the chances of the existing cast and crew making a return, as well.

Damn, heard this on the news break on the Howard Stern show on Sirius on the way home from work. Didn't believe it till I checked CNN and MSNBC as soon as I got home.

Really f***ed up. I wish i could say I feel bad for the guy, but given reports of Drugs at the scene , I just feel bad for his daughter and Ex-wife.

I still can't believe this. Saddest day to me in celeb world. He was truly my favorite on screen portrayal of the Joker. He had so much going for him. May he rest in peace.

I'm sure this won't change TDK at all, and as for the third who knows. I'm sure in the next few days WB will have a statement on this.

Dude, calm. I mean...you haven't even seen the performance yet. How can you say he deserves an Oscar? His death is sad...but there is no need to overreact.
