It's a role Hugh Laurie is destined to play.

Hugh Laurie would work well, he's nearly 60 but he still lool like he's in his mid 50s.

If they wanted to go younger, I'd like Damian Lewis or Dominic West.

I would love to see Andy Serkis as Alfred!
In every Batman series & movies he’s always been english. It would be an interesting switch to make him New Zealand but I think it could work.
Plus being in Matt Reeves’ 2 Apes films doesn’t hurt his chances of hopefully landing a role.
He could also be Penguin but a part of me wants to see him as a compassionate butler and a only family for Bruce.

There's really two distinct takes on Alfred. The traditional British butler and the ex-special forces butler/bodyguard. Richard E. Grant would be great as the traditional take, Liam Cunningham is definitely the top choice for the other version, which I definitely prefer. It makes a lot more sense that the Wayne's would entrust their son and estate to someone who is more than just a butler.

If Alfred takes a role of a caretaker, doesn't mean he isn't capable in other areas. Never felt it's a problem. I prefer traditional Alfred (Gough, Caine).

I also don't feel Laurie as Alfred. At all. Cunningham is a great actor, but I feel it will be type casting, because he had a "medieval butler" role in GoT recently.
