Justice League Henry Cavill IS Clark Kent/Superman - - - - - - - - - Part 18

Feels like all our hopes are resting on the Cavill-McQuarrie combo.

Here's something I don't understand, if WB is willing to make Cavill as one of the Producers (which shouldn't be that difficult), get his choice of director (McQuarrie), and give him a higher paycheck (and a percentage of movie's profit), then why is Cavill insisting that he get the creative control ?

Few months back, I was saying that Cavill should should get involved in the movie's production and creative process but now that he is closer to getting most of the demands approved, he can let go of some other demands.

Especially, if the Superman movie gets a director he trusts, then it doesn't matter if he has some creative control or not.

I think creative control probably includes producer cred+director of choice, and the director's cut as WB was infamous for f***ing up the directors in the post for the last 3 years, and Cavill was a first hand witness.

Though we don't know what their negotiation is up to, it could be money too

I think WB should go for a 3-way deal - give Cavill a long term deal i.e. 6 pictures+cameos etc, producer cred, reasonable $$ that WB is not short of

Sign McQuarrie as the combo and give him the $$ and pet projects he wants

Get McQuarrie to get Cruise as Hal and ask Cruise to do what he does best - helping studios or independent directors to get their projects off the ground Oblivon/Jack Reacher style, and apply to a GLC that's in development hell since 2011. Have McQuarrie as producer/part of the writer team with Johns or others, and Doug Liman or someone of Cruise's choice as the director. Once you sign Cruise I think he'll have plenty of control.

Since Sup and GLC will be worked on by the same big family/team, they have the freedom to cross pollinate in the future if these directors want/need, and WB get 2 difficult franchises off the ground in one go, with actors/directors who have their clout and can control the ships.

Other option if for Cruise to be Lex Senior to stay with McQuarrie, or Cruise team up with McQuarrie and dump Cavill lol. But I think Cruise is generous enough to get a new franchise off the ground than hurting other actors.

and IF we do get 2 franchises off the ground quickly, these poor fans will be so happy lol, and we can actually get to the next JL faster than expected without rushing or making dumb decisions. IF you have a well received Aquaman, Shazam, WW (again), Bat, hopefully Flash by 2020, and you have both MOS2 and GLC released in 2021/2022, then you're really good to go for a JL2 in 2022/2023.

I don’t think his creative control aspect is quite creative control probably just creative input.

It's a good thing they gave so much money to (or body snatched) Daniel Craig and they have another Bond to make with him because if Cavill was offered Bond rn I feel he would immediately say yes

Probably so yeah. I’m hoping WB get their act together on this one fast.

To be fair Cavill probably has the Superman contract locked in if he wants, but the Bond thing is nowhere near certain. So it's more like Cavill using the Bond gig to push for better offers from WB but it's mostly bluff unless he's got an actual offer from MGM as well.

The twitter/bloggers talking up Cavill as Bond could just be his agent using them to hype up the negotiation, because really as hyped as MI6 is right now, it's on track to make 60M, maybe 80M tops in US, and Henry is not even the lead lol. The exposure is nowhere near other 150M films to GA.

And some bloggers are saying how he would never get a chance again if he passes Bond, first that's not certain he is the top pick, second when he is done with Sup he will be around 45, I don't recall Bond has to be 20-30s, a spy in his prime might be 40-50 or maybe they want the dark knight returns route to change it up, it could be anything.

Some even said Paramount might lock him down for a franchise, e.g. GI Joe.

Like, are you freaking kidding me? Henry choosing Joe over Sup? Then might as well mean WB is letting him go lol

Walking away from Superman to leave your schedule open for a role you may not get does not seem plausible.

Now, from WB's POV, you might only give Henry such creative control if McQuarrie is onboard. With McQuarrie's status rising it makes McQuarrie more impressive in the studio's eye. I believe Henry will eventually sign on but getting everything he wants might rely on McQuarrie coming with him.

Here's the leverage: WB knows they can't screw Superman up again. If they want a DCU to prevail, they need a healthy Trinity. Wonder Woman is great in Jenkins' hands. Batman is going to be great in Reeves' hands.

Superman needs the same. They NEED a director coming off a hot streak and they need a sure-fire combination. With McQuarrie coming off of Fallout and with the relationship McQ would have with the leading man, that's half of the battle. WB must act. All the pieces are there if they want Superman to excel in his next outing.

Yeah, If MGM wants both McQuarrie and Cavill for next Bond (reboot) then they would negotiate for the next movie soon but not now, when Danny Boyle is directing Craig's next Bond movie, it would make people lose interest in Boyle's movie. What if Daniel Craig wants to continue for one more movie ?

Which makes me think that there's very little possibility that Cavill will secretly sign on for a Bond reboot and wait till 2020.

I've said this like a broken record. But last year when talking with a person at WB, they repeatedly told me a director has to come to them with a great pitch for MOS 2 to happen. Now I don't know what's going on at the studio but our best chance for MOS 2 to happen within the next few years is for Henry to recruit someone and make a pitch. McQuarrie now seems an obvious choice.

And that’s exactly what I can see happening. With that the villain would surely be Brainiac.

A Superman film directed by McQuarrie with Brainiac as the villain would create a lot of positivity around the movie. The most positivity for the character since MOS came out.

100% lets hope the stars are aligning to allow that to happen rather than the alternative.

Hell, more positivity. McQuarrie doesn't have haters like Snyder does.

Yeah he is one twitter rant away from having 4chan alternate their Rian Johnson threads with McQuarrie threads

Twitter really has become a cesspool

It's a shame cause as a last form I much prefer to it Facebook or Instagram.

If WB doesn't hurry and sign McQuarrie, Mouse will get him for some Star Wars movie. :o

Less fandom-related, McQuarrie would also be a major advantage since he has some recently critically acclaimed films, as well as work on widely acclaimed older projects like The Usual Suspects and the original X-Men. That, coupled with Fallout earning absolutely rave reviews, gives him a very strong pedigree.

I feel so frustrated, just wanna know if Henry’s sighing up or not and if he is, is McQuarrie’s directing?

I have zero interest in Bond franchise (Even less in Bourne franchise), though I have seen some MI movies and will go to watch the latest one.

I don’t like Bond either, been a Brit that may be considered sacrilege but I’ve never got it. Always found it an outdated concept and just plain boring.
