Justice League Henry Cavill IS Clark Kent/Superman - - - - - - - - - - Part 19

Am I the only one who wants NEITHER persona to have slicked-back hair? Honestly just style it differently, combing it forward as Clark and you’d be good. I hate the plastered-down hair look for either persona.
That's actually what Superman: Earth One did.

clark could look great with slicked back hair.... as i said earlier, it's a comb in his pocket and a cup of water on his desk.... to be honest his hair would keep all the while in the office, its only in the S suit he can ruffle his hair, pull fringe down and then let gravity, air resistance do its thing.....
as clark...

as superman

trouble is, his hair in the movies was too long at the back and sides a lot of the times.

Really? You pick the picture WITH the mustache? Way to pick at the scab.

His hair was lookin' extremely Supermanly during the mustache era, though:

That shorter length on the back and sides makes all the difference. And of course they flattened out his natural curls a bit, too, so you got that wavy effect.

Honestly, i cannot see how Snyder, of all people... messed up his hair..

That's been a bugbear of mine for years, could never understand why Clark has looser and more floppy hair and Superman has this highly gelled and styled look. Should be the other way round.

You had scenes like this ...

Then a few scenes later the hair is back to normal lol

Cavill has the same issue. Why on earth would they think this looks better for Superman...

...... than a natural look like this? It's more in keeping with how he's often drawn in the comics.

Agree 100%, should be more combed & neat as Clark but more natural as Superman.

Wasn't too bad in Man of Steel but then again he didn't really have a duel identity then, but it was a lot more natural in that.

I always wanted to actively see clark not so much struggle, but to keep up the disguise at times, to show he was aware and it wasn't as simple as glasses. I know in many ways donner clark stood out even more, but i enjoyed seeing him 'act' to fool people. I want to see moments where clark has to restrain, hold himself back, maybe have a look of disappointment that he can't be himself. Also, if lois is aware, she too can be there with him and hold back - like let's say in the dceu, clark is in the city, reporting away with lois and he gets in a confrontation with a bigger/loser guy, to see him play the victim of sorts, or to stand back and not just step in (with us and lois seeing he wants to), obviously for the equilibrium to be restored later and not just cos he got his powers back, it makes so much more for entertainment, in my eyes. Also, like, getting up from his desk, making sure his hair is slicked back, glasses on, posture etc. I just think moments/elements like that bring a bit of fun.

I always assumed the slick look was for visual effects reasons. I prefer less slick, but I understand if that's trickier somehow.

Perhaps easier to render the CGI body double's hair etc (i heard thats why the cape doesn't have the S on it, due to being harder for rendering and CGI), but that's why i could never understand why they used CGI so much - esp in Superman Returns, there were scenes where they could have easily used live action.

I would love them to go back and use wire work, blocks, practical effects as much as possible.

Imagine if Tom Cruise was given the role... he would literally be out in his underwear 24/7 on a zip wire perfecting the movement of flight. Just out of interest, what director/production company out there is great with practical effects?

The slicked back look makes him look like the ideal period piece James Bond or even a golden age Superman, but not my preference for a modern take

I wouldn't be surprised if the hair thing was for continuity reasons. I remember an article about Hugh Grant in the 90's-- His hair was a signature thing, the execs knew it helped draw in female viewers etc. so it had to be perfect in every shot. But because it was long'ish and wavy, it was a pain for continuity and actually made shooting scenes longer.

Superman (ideally) has a similar look to the pics on the last page, s-curl and all. but combine the above with flying/action scenes... I could see it being a pain on set. But then again, nowadays they could easily fix up bits and pieces in post via CG.

I hear what you are saying, but that's what makeup teams are for.. A decent hairstylist and a proper cut will allow it to fall a certain way... honestly with the amount of movies, tv shows where peoples hairstyles are varied, i don't see why this should be an issue (hopefully lol).

Thing is, Cavill's hair, as an example, when clark kent, is easy, slicked back, no problem for continuity, just like any other bloke on the screen. As superman, i honestly don't think people will mind if it's messed up, probably adds to the realism.

I hear you guys on the hair. But then again, Disney's Hercules meets Superman.

I thought this too, but then remembered there are numerous action films out there with bankable A-List stars like Tom Cruise and they have this same issue. It shouldn't be insurmountable for a makeup dept, one of their responsibilities is literally to reapply makeup/hair between scenes to ensure continuity.

Anyone got 3k? That's probably what this would go for. That's wax museum quality right there.

Check out Youngknight Props Studio. His Man of Steel suit literally looks like Henry just took the damn suit off where it went right onto the mannequin. It's absolutely insane. It goes for $1,200 I believe. Full mannequin, full chrome suit underneath, detail to the last chainmail. It's seriously FIRE. If I would save up, I'm getting that one day. Definitely a grail.

He did both suits and they look amazing.

Things get tough when you got a multimillion dollar star who gets paid by the hour though.

So, if they are going to this much trouble, he must still be Superman, right ?!!!
