Justice League Henry Cavill IS Clark Kent/Superman - - - - - - - - - - Part 19

I appreciate we are all going on hear say currently, but speculation is that JJ’s deal he signed with WB last year is to come on board as producer / director / project lead on the next Superman film.

I hope and pray, WB are learning from their mistakes on this character and do have him at heart, and want to seriously focus on him and Henry.

The timeline makes sense. WB had to figure stuff out after JL where characters like Superman needed a plan, so they set him aside. No immediate plans led Henry taking on The Witcher role where most of his time was going to be wrapped up into. Sandberg wanted a cameo from Henry, but Cavill couldn't with beginning a complex journey with a new character. So they did the stand-in anyway. Henry's role with the Witcher allocated the studio time for them to plan out just exactly how they could possibly fit Henry's Superman back into the DCEU.

Now with the Rock's Black Adam and his obvious fondness going toe to toe with Superman, it's no surprise that whispers are formulating from the whispers of Henry's situation, and of course, his "You'll see" comments.

Now with Covid-19, these projects have ALL been put on hold, which buys the studio more time to think their longterm plan out. No ultimatums are needed between both camps at this point. Hopefully with things slowing down, the Superman issue can be looked at with open minds.

Eager to see where this all goes. I hope we hear S O M E T H I N G by SDCC 2021 regarding Superman.

The “you’ll see” comment from Henry is the thing that makes me really wonder if he’s involved in these conversations that may be happening.

Part of me does think he’s involved somehow but then part of just thinks the signs point to a new actor. I’ll be there either way cause I love the character more so than any one actor but I do think Henry coming back is a best case scenario.

So according to Grace on the Cavill/Superman rumors, WB is willing to bring Henry back as Superman. Even though Henry came down in asking price, it's still too much for WB so it sounds like negotiations are ongoing. So we are basically still at 50/50 if there's any shred of truth to any of this.

If it’s coming from Grace Randolph I would put it in the BS pile.

In terms of general popularity I point all of you to this:
Superman Beats Spider-Man As Most Popular Hero In USA In New Poll

This is very recent and specific to America, while this:

Superman Topping Spider-Man And Batman In Greatest Superhero Poll

is older (7yrs) but the poll numbers is MASSIVE and Global. Take a look at where our boy Kal has placed!

In terms of profitability I reiterate the opening numbers of MOS (the most for any reboot, the 2nd highest opening for a non sequel at the time and the june record at the time).
Smallville is still drew the highest ratings of any superhero show and lasted the longest.
Superman Doomsday is the still the most profitable of all the DTVs (DC or Marvel).
Superman Earth one V1,II and III were all on the newyork times top seller list (even though comicbook sales don't really matter all that much anymore).

So yeah, Superman is still massive and arguably THE most massive according to sales and polls, but whether WB know this or not remains to be seen.

Yeah. The halting Supergirl part seems very possible and frankly the correct thing to do. The Henry Cavill part sounded like stream of conscious speculation and merely a headline grabber. It being HH allows him to put out rumors and speculation. If it was firm news, he would have placed it in the WRAP.

Tomlin has also commented on the Fleisher cartoons and Superman video games.

I'm not familiar with his actual work. He seems to be rising quickly. He's written a few things, most of which hasn't been released yet, and sold a sci-fi spec script to Paramount after it apparently drew lots of interest.

I don't see any direct connection with JJ. More of six degrees of separation scenario.

Interesting that El Maybe hasn’t debunked Grace though. He’s fond of doing that, like humiliating her most of the time. Unless he has and I haven’t seen it

It's possible that WB and Cavill's camp reengaged at some point. Even if taken as true, it's unclear when and if that is still ongoing. The contract dispute element is tough because we're not privy to the actual details so we don't know who was being unreasonable. I usually lean against the Cavill camp in this regard because WB always has the upper hand since they have Superman as an actual chip and Cavill does not.

For all the talk of his manager Dany Garcia, he also has agents. He switched from CAA to WME. CAA made his original Superman deal. In the old HR article, it mentioned contract talks broke down between WB and his WME agents. They play a big part in this too.

Now it might be easy for me to say take less money but Cavill's position seems shortsighted in the long run. If WB has indeed put the Supergirl movie aside for Superman, it might be Cavill's last shot to take advantage and get back in. As unlikely as that might be.

I loved the trailer. As others have said, they were great times here on the Hype. From everyone searching for video of the MOS comic con trailer through deciphering Kryptonian signals to unlock the first full trailer and to the unbridled enthusiasm that came with the third trailer.

It be great to have those times once again with a new Superman solo film. In these times in particular, we could use a pleasant distraction.

I'm skeptical that Cavill would gamble the Superman role he loves so much over just money. He pursued and took less money (3.2 million if reports are to be believed) for more work (8 to 9 months production schedule for season 1) on The Witcher as he's so invested in telling that story. I imagine creative differences must factor in there somewhere between Cavill and WB.

A tidbit for today, Mark Millar recently said that Matthew Vaughn was one of 10 directors WB spoke to when it came to Man of Steel before it went to Snyder and Daredevil's Charlie Cox was going to be Vaughn's Superman.

Charlie is great, but I can’t see him as Supes at all.

That whole combo doesn't sound great, tbh. (Mark Millar+Vaughn+Charlie Cox)

I’m so tired of hearing tosh like this, just because large portions of the audience didn’t take to Snyder’s Superman it doesn’t mean they’ve won’t accept anything but Reeve. It simply means they didn’t like what was presented to them.

It’s like me liking a chocolate bar bout instead I get another bar but I don’t like it. It doesn’t mean I want all chocolate bars to be like then one I liked first. It just means I didn’t like the new chocolate bar I was given.

They're not lying though about the new Justice League movie looking like Zack's movie. I've been saying that since the day it came out. All you have to is switch Superman and Batman's roles around and give Cyborg and Flashes role to Raven and Constantine and you have his movie. But still a very good movie graphic but good. Would've been great if that happened in the comics just to see how things would've played out from there.

And I say that’s coincidence no nearlt everything presented in Apokolips War is adapted from various comic book Stories. I think these snyder fans need to realise aswell a low budget niche animated movie is gonna make a profit whereas a $300 million niche movie is likely gonna be an expensive failure. They can’t compare what’s people will accept in an animated straight to video thing to a big budget Hollywood movie that will get way more eyes on it.
