And as for Millar... Other than RED SON what else has he written of Superman that is highly praised? I happen to love RED SON, but it far from makes me think that Millar is the guy to write a Superman film for the wide movie going audience.

Millar wrote an actually well received run of the Superman Adventures comics which were based on the animated series and aimed at younger readers. There were two small-format collections published capitalizing on that. And yes, they were well done, optimistic Superman stories for the most part. So when Millar lays off the cynical agendas and self-promoting stunts he can do competent material.

Off camera there is a naked girl on top of him with her breasts in his face. It’s series one, when he cheats on Margaret when she’s really sick. (I PMed you the gif haha)
That should be a PM mass mailing!

I like Millar's Superman stuff and anyone who won't shut up about how much they love the character fits right in, imo. But some stuff about his take did sound weird. A John Cena type as Superman, his perception of humans as apes. That and more, from what I remember. It might sound better in context. I keep hoping he talks more about it in interviews.

Not sure about the john Cena type comment, but if you think about it Cavill was built like Cena in MOS and seems even bigger in BvS so it's not unthinkable.
Regarding the superman's perceptions of human as apes, well that's not exactly what millar said, he said that compared to superman humans are apes from an evolutionary point of view, which is kind of true but the important thing is that superman himself doesn't see it that way.

Years ago, Millar pitched a Superman trilogy to WB...They said no.

They also said no to Grant Morrison.

They also said no to Mark Waid and Timm/Dini, who pitched a Batman v Superman film to the studio in the early 2000s.

Like Kevin smith said in the death of superman lives what happened documentary where he asked the WB brass why they just don't hire the çomicbook writers or the STAS/BTAS people to take a shot at the character and WB responded by saying 'but these people only do TV or only write comics'.
That's essentially the studio mentality and it won't change until a comicbook writer or an Timm/Dini actually actually manage to force their way into the movie industry, either via comicbook properties or through other non comicbook related projects but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Johns is literally the CCO of DC Comics, though. He's got a lot more clout than just any other comics writer.

I would like to think that having a cmic creator helming a CBM guarantees a good movie but they are two different mediums. Joss Whedon came from TVμ/Film and then wrote comics, but it is a rarer ocurrance than we all think. Same with JMS and his involvement with the first Thor. Let's also remember Frank Miler and THE SPIRIT. I am sure he didn't set out to makea film that was viewed so poorly by so many, he loves The Spirit, but that passion didn't translate into something the mass audience was interested in.

Does that mean that comic book creators can never do good work adapting comoc work for live action? No. Look at Kirkman and TWD. It's not a hard and fast rule and we will likely see more of it in the future. I just think it's not a fait accompli that getting those creators involved automatically means a good product. I certainly don't think most of the names bandied about are the right choices either.

Snyder is just as wrong,.

For you- Bane

This is my Superman.

Thank ya based Snyder for giving me a version of Superman where I give a damn.

Henry seems more relaxed and playful than he did in 2013 when promoting MOS.

Looking at that tongue pic, I'm thinking that pint of Guiness he's holding might have something to do with his playfulness.

If Brad Bird comes on board to do Superman, let it do it his way. Bright and hopeful.
Don't confuse "bright and hopeful", because this Superman is hopeful and what Superman is about (HELP and HOPE) the traits are there and... HE HAS the COMICS SUPERMAN BALLS!!

Some act like he is emo or something just because is a grounded scenario... :funny:

Let me tell you something..

for some of you bright and hopefull are the Donner version (which is just outdated) or a Marvelized (funny Superman) both just NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Bird, Miller or whoever will have his touch but according to this UNIVERSE not your "wishes" of a Marvelized or Outdated Supes.

And to finish this...

SNYDER'S SUPERMAN IS THE BEST REPRESENTATION OF THE BEST COMICS SUPERMAN (not silverage, not donner movies..) making him relatable and no the omnipresent god that bored many people. The respected the essence of the character but in a 21 century version, no matter if some PURISTS don't want to accept it :word:

/End of Rant
