I love Aronofsky's work, but I wouldn't want him to be involve with something so commercial/studio driven (and I don't think he wants to anyways). He's better off doing his own thing.

I completely agree.

For those of you who are interested in the early reactions for Man From U.N.C.L.E

#ManFromUNCLE was surprisingly good. It's chock full of Cracker Jack wit and sly charm. Chemistry amongst leads is great.

#ManFromUNCLE was pretty good. Review should be up on @NotYetRatedSite within the next few days.

#ManFromUNCLE sets a new standard for what spy movies can and will be in the future; Ritchie proves he still has the golden touch. #mustsee

In case you're curious, #ManFromUNCLE is the best spy movie of the year. Slick, stylish, and good old fashioned fun. @ManFromUNCLE

Just got out of a sneak preview of #ManFromUNCLE. I see it fitting as a double feature with The Kingsman in a lot of ways.

#ManFromUNCLE was a really good movie. The Cavill and Hammer scenes were the best.

#ManFromUNCLE hits all the points. Great directing. Great cast. Great fun. Great-point-oh out of 10.

Aronofsky struggles with big effects-driven films. I'd be worried his Superman would suffer the same problems his Noah film did.

Wait Aronosky was interested?Wow!

yup here is a quote:

“Superman’s one of the holy grails. It’s Superman. It’s the best superhero,” he said. “Batman is great, of course, but it’s Superman. He’s the same level. That possibility was great.”

I really like Aronofsky but I have to agree with all of you that he's just wrong for superman.

Ducan Jones was also interested but after I read what he wanted to do with the character I'm glad he didn't get the job, here is what he said:

"It all worked out, though. It probably worked against me, but my pitch for a Superman film would be to take the Dr. Manhattan character from Watchmen, which I think is the best encompassing version of what Superman should be, this incredible sort of alien presence with superhuman powers who is so over powerful compared to the rest of humanity that he doesn’t understand how to relate to people. And I thought that’s what Superman should be, but they got Zack Snyder in there and he already knows how to do that."

I know lots of people here don't like the idea of Vaughn on superman but I for one would kill to see it happen

"Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me." is what Vaughn said about the character and him teaming up with Mark millar (superman red son) would likely have been amazing.

a director with a critically acclaimed filmography in his belt and has a deep interest of superman sounds like the perfect combination for me

That’s the only picture suitable for posting. Ya know the scene?? To be fair, her (huge) boobs were right in his face. Poor Cav-El.
I'm gonna need a name

I also wouldn't trust him with this sort of thing after his attempt at Batman.

Well I guess I'm glad Duncan Jones didn't get the gig, then. Dr. Manhattan may have been a twist on the idea of Superman, but Superman ain't Dr. Manhattan. Not by a loooooong shot, imo.

Manhattan is too removed from humanity for him to be that similar to Clark. Clark is a human in every way except biologically. I really loved how Smallville fleshed out how much of a normal kid Clark was aside from his powers.

Yeah, people are b****ing enough about how they've portrayed Superman thus far, could you imagine what a hurricane of nerd rage we'd be stuck in the middle of if they actually made him more removed from humanity?

He'll go from neck snapping to full on decapitations.

Or maybe silence of the lambs style canabalism? He could change the spelling of his name to Souporman.....that's the Hannibal Lector equivalent of "Soup or Salad?".... right? ;)

Comic book fans seemingly prefer source "fidelity", even if it's at the cost of (potentially brilliant) artistic license.

No, but it is nice if there's a balance.

With some of these guys, it's very easy to see how the balance would shift.

LOL, seriously that's what you got from those comments??!

WB have officially stated that they are planning another superman solo and it makes perfect sense because the character makes money and if BvS, SS and JL are successful then it will give DC movies alot of clout leading to huge boost in the box office for all the solo movies.

Another superman solo is coming, just relax and hope that WB hires a good director this time around.

Of course they will. Like waiting 18 years to get SR after S4.

Ideally, of course a balance would be preferred. But given the choice between a director who's a casual/respectful fan and is likely to adapt the source material more than translate, and someone who's a fanboy at heart...who do you think fans will gravitate more towards? I'd bet all my money 'faithfulness' takes a priority over 'cinematic talent' the majority of the time.

A good storyteller is a good storyteller.

I have no interest in how big of a fan of comics someone is.

Very, very, VERY different times, the studio structures have completely changed.
And they didn't wait for 18 years to get superman going, they bought the rights from the salkinds in 1994 and started working on superman lives immediately but due to many reasons the movie (thankfully) didn't get made.

personally ever since watching both the iron giant and the incredible's a superman film directed and written by Brad Bird would be mind blowingley awesome

brad bird,Rupert wyatt or Matthew Vaughn for the Superman solo

Just out of curiosity why Wyatt?...The gambler was tedious (for me atleast).

Vaughn is my top choice but I really I can't see him doing it especially if he has to work under the constraints of Snyder and co.

Bird is a great choice and even though tomorrowland was a missed opportunity, the iron giant is the best superman movie since superman the movie.

Planet of the apes.Thats why Rupert wyatt.
Bradbird for obvious reasons

I get the other directors but even with STARDUST in his filmography I don't Vaughn as a choice.

The key appeal to using vaughn is Mark millar.Hes one of the 3 best Superman writers
