Both SR and MOS are guilty in regards to the lack of dialogue/development of Superman/clark's character, which I think was a big reason why neither films succeeded in bringing superman back fully into the public's good graces (ala the winter soldier for Cap and BB for Batman). Hopefully BvS could do that somewhat even with the all the characters they are cramming in.

I don't think Uncle was ever expected to be a blockbuster type hit, so I'm not sure if "flop" quite applies, but I think being well received is more important than huge box office in terms of HC's future prospects. He needs to be in some good movies.

I think if it happens at a natural time scale to be incorporated into the story, sure. I just don't think Cavill will suit the grey at the temple look, unless he went all out grey.

Well, they already dye/color it to an extent (his hair is naturally brown), so it would make sense for them to continue doing so.

Now, if they were looking to tell a future tale, perhaps based on Kingdom Come, that's another story entirely.
