BvS Henry Cavill IS Superman - - - - - - - - - - Part 24

Its sad that Henry Cavill is more like Superman in interviews where he talks about playing Superman - than in the movies where he actually plays Superman.

Cavill is just so charismatic. Has anyone here seen The Man From UNCLE? He was so awesome in that.

Why is it so hard for BvS to give him the same material to work with? He's leading man material.
Because Snyder can't see past making him Grimaceman instead of Superman.

I agree.

And to be honest, adding some lighter moments to a film that's heavy overall gives the heavy moments more impact. When we see a character in their happy times, it makes the sad times more poignant by comparison.

I think Clark/Superman is a lot more stoic/subtle than people would like. Cavill's doing a very nice job and gave a nice, subtle performance, especially in regard to body language with the character, but it would definitely be nice to see some more charisma from the character in the future. When he smiles, he SMILES, and it works so well.
Exactly right.

I'm not gonna lie, that ONE scene between he and Lois...it almost made up for the rest of his conflict. One more sequence along those lines evolving that would have been nice.

I thought Henry was excellent, I especially loved him as Clark.

he is. just that people wanna see a joyful superman... no matter in what scenerio.

Loved him. That look on his face when [BLACKOUT]Lex brought out the pics of his mom[/BLACKOUT] was fantastic.

I just wish they'd give him a bit more to say.

I didn't want to see a joyful Superman when he's battling evil and **** but I would like to see some more lighter moments.

I love Henry as well and want better for him.

Guys...Is there anything about these films that would have you believe Zack Snyder actually likes Superman the comic book character? He might like this version he's put on screen but there is no evidence that he likes/respects Superman in the comics. None.

Nah.

Speaking for myself, I want a superman with ups and downs, like real people. The best character-driven movies take the audience on a little journey with the characters. To do that, they actually need to allow you to get to know the character. Superman is joyful unless put in a position where he can't be. He loves to do what he does. I have no problem with him being put in tough spots, but it becomes monotonous if he's forever in those spots. It's time for us to see that he really loves what he does. He's not remote; he was raised on Earth and wants to be with its people.

The third act.

He gets the character.

Smiling and being nice to people is not unique. He gets the basis of Superman's ties to humanity, absolutely.

The sequence between he and Lex was fantastic.

When you think about it, that would be a seriously upsetting thing to have to figure out.

I've always said Snyder was not the right man for the character, so I'm feeling a little vindicated in being ahead of the game there. :o

I'm not the biggest Supes fan so this hasn't been a huge bummer to me, but I sympathize with others on this.

I do think Snyder gets aspects of Superman. Does he get enough aspects is the question of the day.

That scene where he was standing in the inferno to me was his best moment. so much pain registered on his face, and he didn't speak a word

Now imagine what he could do if he had more dialogue.

Day of the Dead scene was my favourite, so much warmth from him.

I don't know why he insists on keeping him silent, why can't he allow Henry and the character to talk?
I don't know but I'm starting to feel had, I'm starting to feel like I was a fool.

I feel like the naysayers were right, that Man of Steel wasn't just a stepping stone, it's how the character is going to be throughout this series.

Sounds like Henry gave another great performance that was hampered by the writing. Can't wait to judge for myself.

That's the bit that's stuck most in my head.

I can already see myself re watching from there to the end of the BvS fight over and over.

That's the kind of Clark/Lex stand off I love.

It's clear he has reverence for the character, but I think that has translated too literally with how he's been portrayed. Take away the scenes with Martha, and this Superman is jarringly distant from the common man.

He's technically saving and caring for others, but in the same manner in which we let a insect out of the house rather than squashing them. There's an emotional disconnect which many rightfully find to be integral to the Supes they love.

With how the film ends, I fear they'll take this demigod route even further, if that's imaginable.
