I'll be seeing the film in a few hours from now, but I gotta say that the excitement that I had for this film is completely gone. The reactions over here have pretty much killed it.

Worst of all, it doesn't seem like many ppl think that superman will be used well again after this film.

Snyder did it guys. Snyder pretty much killed people's excitement for the character.

I think Amell is pretty wooden. It is one more reason I stopped watching Arrow.

I think the best thing right now is to not have ANY expectations for Superman anymore in the DCEU. That way, it leaves less room for disappointment.

^^^

If you are a Cavill fan you will be disappointed I'm sorry to say.

His performance in MoS is a lot better than what we're given in BvS. He's almost an after-thought in character development to Bruce/Batman.

:whatever:

I read some of the comments here some of you guys are crazy to think Cavill Superman wasn't good. It was his best performance as Superman and he sold every scene. Even the emotion scene that made me tear up. This forum is becoming a joke with people just now bashing everyone in the movie. I may have to leave this forum and come back when things settles down. If you guys actually watch BvS you see him at the end of the movie finally excepting how he is and call "it's my world" and decided to love the world and save them all. superman going forward will no longer be conflicted because he has overcome and excepted this world as it is. I feel like some of you didn't even care to pay attention to the movie but instead listen to the critic and bash to nippick.

I find it funny herolee is so somber & warning people of Superman in BvS when HE HASN'T EVEN SEEN THE DAMN MOVIE! Which means he's going entirely off of the word of others & not his own. Weak sauce, bro, weak damn sauce.

Anyway, Cavill was great in this & BvS reaffirms that he's perfect for Superman. I didn't find Superman depressing in this & I don't feel like he "didn't have enough to do" either because he was given plenty to do.

It's because people on here are finally putting their fanboyism aside and looking at the film objectively, like the critics.

Even the general audience will dislike this film. That general audience RT score dropped significantly between yesterday and today, and will drop like the titanic after tonight and this weekend.

Henry Cavill was great in BvS. Nearly all of my favorite moments are Cavill ones.

The audience score is at 74%, a healthy number. Calm yourself. :o

Objectively. pfft. Most critics did not say "Everything sucks". Right now here, you've got some legitimate analysis of this film, including its negatives, and much more of the bandwagon vitriolic fanboys "playing" critic and parroting what they've hears. Typical black and white fanboy hyperbole.

Just got back from seeing it.

I have some issues with how superman was written, which I will elaborate on as time goes by, but Cavill was excellent again. My issues with the character have nothing to do with him.

Did you like it Mrs. K? The Clois stuff was the best, wasn't it?

I did like it overall. Definitely not the disaster the critics and some fans make it out to be, IMO.

I loved Clois! There wasn't nearly enough of them, but what was there was awesome. They seemed to have such a supportive and loving relationship. My hopes for this movie included a portrayal of Clois as a mature and supportive relationship and I got it! That bathtub scene was so cute.

And it was in the 80s yesterday. We're still going through early ticket sales screenings at this point. General audiences will sink the score like the titanic soon. Patience.

Are you hoping that happens? Why should it bother you if other people like it or not?

It will help send a message to WB that their current approach to DC Films sucks, if and when BVS has poor WOM (word of mouth).

They need to go back to the drawing board with their approach to this material. The Snyderverse has been a disappointment, to say the least.

So as a fan of DC Comics, I am hoping it happens.

Flooding into the Cavill thread. Ah, the overboard angst is alive and kicking, lol.

Glad you liked it Mrs. Kent :) looking forward to hearing more from you.

I see. Good luck with that, I guess.

Well. Poor Word Of Mouth is inevitable at this point.

The question is whether WB will actually make correct decisions to remedy the situation. It's doubtful. We're headed for more rotten DC films ahead unless the studio pulls their heads out of their collective butts.

You'll hear plenty, lol. I'm working on a review as we speak.

I'm certainly not going to tell you what to do with your time, but hoping a movie gets poor WOM or whatever isn't something I feel like doing on a Friday night, or ever, for that matter.

I don't have any control over what is done with the DCU. There are some things I'd like to see corrected, but I can't influence the opinions of millions of viewers or those of studio execs. So, I'm just gonna relax and see how it all pans out. I thought BvS was decent enough to entertain me for 2.5 hours and that's all I need.

I don't know how all of this will play out, but my hope is that they give Snyder the boot and bring in a director who can bring the best out of Cavill and not just make another movie where they try and cram Batman down our throats for damn near three hours. Honestly, I liked Affleck's Batman, but I almost feel like any adequate actor could have been good in that part because he was given maximum screentime and dialogue. People keep saying he was brutal and psychotic, but I actually just found him a bit detached. He lacked the intensity that Bale and Keaton had. The only reason people are saying things like he was the best part or he "blew Cavill off the screen" is because Cavill wasn't given anything to say or do half the time.

Ben was good, but I don't agree with the "blew Cavill away" thing. He wasn't that good. And Cavill was also good when he had opportunity to be.

The portrayal of superman was lacking though.

That's fine. I just hold the DC Comics adaptions to higher standards. After BB and TDK, how can we sink to this?

Despite my user name, I'm a DC fan. That's why I'm disappointed and want change at WB.

Yep. It was clear that they didn't know what to do with him. I'm fine with Superman being troubled by the way the world perceives him. That can make for an interesting character arc. But you need to expand upon that at least a little bit. Show his compassion for people and his drive for making them understand that he's not a threat. Show that when the world needs a leader, he can be that guy, even if people don't want him to be.
