But... but... I thought Man of Steel didn't resonate with anyone and the film was universally hated by everyone in the world because it was like watching a movie about the Holocaust and Henry is a wooden actor and Superman didn't do anything heroic at all and the $690 million it made at the box office and $100 million it made on DVD is proof that the film is a financial bomb.

Yea, people will keep denying it till the very end. Most any other cbm does this(most don't) and it's bells and whistles but not here. The interesting thing was when RDJ popped on twitter around voting time lol.
Classic Stark vs Clark move.

Cavill had that perfect disposition for both Supes and Clark. I look forward to seeing more of it

Snyder casting. Never fails....ever.

That's cool that he won the award. I really didn't expect him to

LOL, he actually did that?

Butt hurt Brandon Routh fanboy?

I think that, out of all the MOS-bashers, the Routhites are the ones that bug me the most. I mean, if you're going to troll MOS to pieces just because you're pro-Marvel, I can understand it at least a little bit because overall, Marvel has been putting out a quality product and I could see how other things might pale in comparison (especially if you've always preferred Marvel to DC).

But for those people who have a hate-on for MOS just because WB didn't feel like giving a bowling alley employee who can't act another chance to put on his blue wetsuit and trashbag cape one more time to make audiences again doze off and/or repeatedly look at their watches, I wish they'd just leave us in peace.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Routhite. Haha....I implore you all to shed that and join the Cavillry as soon as possible for your own sanity.

Your descriptions in this post are just...marvelous and hilarious.

Listen the film got a mixed reception, of course people are going to take pot shots at it and when I don't agree with the criticisms I will defend the film. I think that most Routh fans are sane and rational but the other ones are just crazy with envy. "Why does Cavill get to play Superman again when his movie got a worse RT score than Superman Returns?!!" I can just hear the whining.

Love or dislike Routh the proof is in what happen after 2006, the guy is incapable of getting a leading role in a big film. Even before Superman Henry Cavill's career was more successful than Brandon Routh's.

The hardcore Welling fans used to be pretty damn vocal I remember many of them hating when Cavill was cast as Superman.

LIES!!! All LIES!!!!

I don't know why there is such hatred for Routh here, especially many posters here think that since they like Cavill, they have to make some derogatory statements about Routh.

I can appreciate both (Routh's and Cavill's) performances, but even if you don't like Routh's..there's no need to insult him.

Congrats to Henry! Good to know my vote counts:word:

Oh, they started that whining about 5 minutes after MOS hit theaters.

Look, I've been around here for a while and I had to listen to Routh fans for a long time bemoan the fact that their movie wasn't getting a sequel. Then, whenever some MOS news hit, they would drop in here for five minutes to let us all know how unimpressed they were with the cast, the suit, the trailers, etc. And then of course the RT score happened and a bunch of them returned to remind us all how "wrong" MOS got Superman and how SR was SOOOOO much better. One loony poster even claimed he wrote a letter to WB, pleading with them to cancel their plans to make a MOS sequel.

As for Routh himself, he seems like a decent guy in real life but he was pretty much a void when it came to acting (at least in SR) so if I still have to periodically listen to trolls drop into this thread and see them deride Cavill's acting ability, I feel completely justified in my comments about Routh.

For the record, as a Reeve-impersonator, Routh did a good job. His Daily Planet Clark Kent stuck out and his mannerisms....especially his voice sounded like Reeve to go along with a slight resemblance. Unfortunately for Routh, he was only as good as the Reeve material and was never supposed to portray a new Superman or give his own take on things. Because of that, his entire look, performance and luck fell flat and the suit they put him in didn't look a slight bit good. He was good enough to end the Donnerverse and that's where it starts and ends.

I didn't even think he did a good Reeve impersonation. Reeve had a real presence. As Clark or as Superman, you really felt him when he was on screen. When he was Superman, he was strong, confident and charming. And as Clark, he was nerdy, quirky and funny. I suppose Routh's Clark could get a pass since (in some iterations) Clark is portrayed as a wallflower. But his Superman (IMO) felt completely hollow to me. Even as a Reeve impersonation, it felt like a vapid one.

Well, just the simple fact that some of them had the modicum of belief that he would be signed to the film just shows how naive they all were.

I liked Dean Cain's Clark better than Routh.

Heh, I didn't like Dean Cain's Clark and I'd even agree with that.

When did this turn into a Routh bashing thread instead of the Henri Cavill one? Can we move on now? Thanks!
