Here We Go Again Part 3: New Welling As Superman Rumors?

:awesome::hehe:

I'd like to see him as Superman outside of Smallville. Wasn't he suppose to appear as Clark Kent in Batman Begins, or was that just fake?
I think that turned out to be fake. Someone had faked some filming schedule or casting call or something.

Okay, I guess someone cleaned house... My last post is just gone.

Whatever, it was a faked call sheet.

It was badly faked, btw. Tom wasn't ever going to be in Batman Begins, not even in a cameo.

Interesting cause a poster named B (I think) got a 1 month ban for Welling/Routh discussion in the Superman forum. They could have just deleted the discussion and forgot about the ban, like here. Oh well different rules I guess for SV fans.

Ahhh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up for me. :woot:

Yeah, the image was very badly faked.

I was working at HP's digital imaging division the time that call sheet came out, so I had the tools to check the image out. (A really good image editor, full version of Adobe Photoshop...)

The call sheet tells the actors when they're expected on set, when, where and what time.

When I looked at the image in close-up, I think I had to blow it up to something like 300 or 400%, you could see that the pixels were just too even.

i just hope they get a solid story this time around and get a good cast on board. now with chris nolan producing it. i am sure we will see a great cast coming. just look at his films he has cast well in most roles. Hopefully this next film will turn out to be a very good superman film. I dont want to see another mistake film again.

As for welling sure i still would love to see what he could bring to the table as a film superman. it isnt likely an option. Just like routh who i didnt like as clark/superman. This new film is/should be a clean slate. So it can be its own.

I'll keep hoping in my little fanboy bubble he gets to play him in the live action film... :D

for me i just wished we had some more news already about the film. since we know legally they have to be shooting the film within next yr. And they already have a winter 2012 released plan. So they have to be shooting no later then june/july 2011 to have plently of time for filming and post work. So i would hope we get official word on director within the next month, and then casting between sept-dec so if they were shooting in june/july it would give plently of time for cast to prep for the film.

It just seems like everything would fit if Welling actually does play Superman this go round for the film. Smallville is wrapping up, they're saying it's a tv actor we all would like to see put on the suit, it not being a reboot/origin, just a stand alone story, and our first guess would be right.

If that's all true, it just makes sense for Welling to get the part...

Or at least I'd like to keep thinking that it all makes sense in my little world... :D

If everyone was thinking "Jon Hamm" then yeah

:woot:

I think people here have already said he's not the TV actor they were talking about... Could be wrong. Sure hope it isn't him, too old looking. Just my opinion though. :D

Green is speculating.

They don't have a style or preference in mind. All types are going to read for this.

They were just 'looking' at Jon Hamm early on in the casting process (he was the rumored TV star).

Hamm won't be chosen.

They're looking at it like a one-shot.

Not a reboot or a sequel.

Just another Superman story.

interesting info man of showtime

**************.com's case for a Superman flick based on Smallville's mythology.

Hey! Its been a long time since Ive been here.... but I found another poll.

http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeekfiles/2010/08/who-will-play-superman-in-chri.html

Tom Welling is in the lead!

Lol! About the title in that article "Who will play Superman in Christopher Nolan's 2012 reboot?"!
Everyone is pretty much counting on Chris Nolan directing it from his producer position and his brother who actually have the directing title just standing on the side and watching. Must be a bit irritating from Jonathan Nolan's point of view.

No sane person should want a noob director directing Superman's last chance. His last name should not matter. The guy has no ****ing experience. He should ask his brother to get him various movie directing jobs at the WB so he can prove himself worthy. Right now he is not

You need to be very careful with Nolan, and not repeating the same mistaake WB made with Singer, which was basiclaly using a director who had a passion for one comic book character(s) and made a good movie, but then when they tried translating it to Supermen, it just wasn't there likely due to the fact that the diector didnt relate to him in the same way.

Singer did an admirable job with the X-Men (highlighted even moreso by Ratner's awful film) due to his having a strong association to the characters situation because of his own sexuality. But when he got handed the reins to the Alpha Male of Alpha Males, something he obviously wasnt comfortable with, so he deferred too much to Donner's 30 year old predecessor, and it fell flat on it's face.

Nolan loves Batman and it's shown in 2 films so far, to a degree few thought possible after Schumacher sent the franchise in to the abyss. Simply handing him the keys to Superman because of his Batman success could be WB repeating the same mistake it made with Singer. Maybe Nolan's brother has that passion for Superman and is capable of directing it mastefully. I don't know. But to blindly want Chris Nolan on the project because of The Dark Knight and Inception being the new, hot thing ATM is being a bit short-sighted.

Agreed

I thought Jon Hamm rumors were debunked? Anyways, voted for Welling. :D

They're gonna have the writer of Burton's first "Batman" be Superman?? WILD!

;)

i dont want an older superman. if hamm was 10 years younger i would be for him, but not at the age he is now. he would make a great lex

Haha, I was thinking the same thing awhile back actually. I can see Jon Hamm more as The Punisher, though. Although I'd love to see Thomas Jane come back.

Since DC is planning on announcing their film line up, I hope they add some Batman and Superman news with it. :woot:

Hamm is only six years older than Welling. They may make Superman already established in the movie.
