Here We Go Again Part 3: New Welling As Superman Rumors?

Hammer is the only one likely for certain to get a read for Superman. He's on the map right now.

Isn't this going to be the sixth Superman movie, or has everyone erased Superman IV from their memories.

I liked Superman IV better than III. I'd always take Nuclear Man than Richard Pryor's antics.

:awesome: Just when I thought I was out. THEY pull me back in.

Saw the breaking news yesterday of synder landing director gig for reboot. Great to finally have director on board. I like his work. So I hope he does well. I am sure nolan will keep zack in line. As for the rumor of zod as villain I hope they don't use him. I want to see brainiac or metallo for example. Also I do hope we are getting a fresh take. Now can't wait to see how casting goes. They better get a good cast this time.

That video needs to be updated...So many good Smallville scenes that could be added.

On a side note. I have to laugh. I was over at the Superman movie forum. In the Superman casting thread. You can't mention Welling there (or Cavill & Routh). Makes no sense since its possible Cavill & Welling (albiet a small chance) that they could be cast.

No no no to Tom as big screen Supes. We have the technology to make a truly epic 21st century Superman saga on the big screen; there's no reason to yolk it to a small screen character with its tons of excess baggage and expect that to be a revitalization of the franchise. That Clark had his day, and so will another

Mr Garrison once had a quote that I believe is appropriate for this moment...
YOU GO TO HELL...YOU GO TO HELL AND YOU DIE!!!

:cmad: Don't get me started on that rule that basically bans mentioning Tom Welling in the Superman forum casting threads on a technicality. Anyone perusing the Supes forum would see entire threads devoted to Cavill and Routh, but Welling is conveniently buried 3 boards deep in TV land.

It's Not Right. And it blows my mind that anyone could justify it as such.

Honestly, I hope Snyder announces his choice for Supes ASAP.

it would be nice to see tom as big screen supes but it isnt likely to happen. Just like i dont want to see routh again, welling isnt likely to be looked at either. Personally its best for this nolan produced/ supes to be all new and all fresh, new cast/new look/sound/theme/story so it can be its own unique thing.

Yeah the No Welling talk is bull. How Ironic would it be if welling were cast, they'd have to go back on that rule, with egg on their faces :D

Honestly, If I were the WB/Snyder, I'd wait until Smallville's end to annouce the actor playing Superman. That way if it wasn't Welling the show would be over and there wouldnt be any Superman movie chat while the show was still running (like with SR), or if they did use Welling, no better way to advertise than to use.....a Smallville series finale? ;)

Actually you can talk about Cavill, Routh and Welling in their respective threads there. You're just urged not to in the general casting thread. The thing is, though, that Welling's thread is lost somewhere to the 2nd or 3rd page.

Link?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

Hm, I found out that the mod rule about Welling's thread meant the thread about TW in this forum. Not the Superman one. That's why they erased the TW thread in the Superman boards. My bad.

For what it's worth, Zack Snyder likes filming in Canada. 300 was shot in Montreal, and Watchmen and Sucker Punch were shot in... wait for it...

Vancouver.

Just sayin'.

Well, Tom is tied to Vancouver probably one more season at least. I can't see Hellcats not getting renewed, it's the best new show that The CW has this season.

He's a hands on producer and he spends a lot of time on their set, apparently. He'd probably like to have his next job be close to the show too.

;)

Well they can't reall wait to see how sv ends. They would have to have cast locked up by feb/march the latest. Cause filming would have to happen no later then june. To have enough time to make winter 2012 release. Also saw the other newe news that they might take birthright approach on where clark is at start of film. That would be a good start for me. We see clark reporting doing saves in private. Then touch on krypton/sv origins. All I would say in first 15-20mins.. then he is in metropolis and public revealed as supes.

As for the rumor script is a mess I don't believe it. It just conflicts with other news. Jonah and david been working on it since last year. Then back in feb when it was known they on supes it was said wb loved the script. Plus chris would let the script to to****s. Plus on other hand if filming doesn't start to around june, that does leave a few months for rewrites while pre production is going on.

Uhm, if filming starts in June, SV ends in April so Tom will be free from the middle of April, they should know well before then whether he can sign on.

He wasn't announced as the star of The Fog until I think late February, early March and they started filming in the first part of April before Smallville ended.

I don't think there's any specific time frame for locking a star for a feature. The earlier the better for some films because it helps get financing, but that's not really an issue here.

They will probably need to have at least a few months notice of who's signed on because of costume fittings and stuff like that...

i am in 100 percent agreement that tom welling is the most phycically accurate actors for superman i've ever seen.:wow:

now where is that manip of him in the costume, i believe spideyville had it as his avvy.....

:awesome::awesome:(thanks!)

someone needs to show that to the producers, i call triplet ;)

Trip I know sv would be done filming by april. But with films like these they need the cast locked a few months at least before filming starts. To prep for film like training, rehershals, costuming and all that. I still would love for tom to be offered role. But its still more likely to be. An all fresh cast. We will just have to see once casting starts to be confirmed. I really hope they get a good cast this time.

Well, what I was trying to say was he doesn't have to wait until filming stops on SV before he can sign for other things.

He knows his end date for SV, he can schedule new work based on that.

If it's his TV schedule that people are thinking will keep him from signing for this role, then they need to think again: I don't see SV production as hindering Tom's ability to get the part, it doesn't need to be over before he can accept other parts.

Hell, he could sign now, knowing when the end of SV production will be. Barring any disasters, they should finish filming on time, they rarely go over...
