They pretty much had no choice, judge orders due to the rights converting back to the creator's family.

I don't know about that, I remember those issues but that was not the reason why they rushed to make a Superman film prematurely.

His creepiness actually works for him in the Vampire Diaries, but truth is I feel the same way:

He'd be the absolute worst choice for Superman. He's not very tall, he's almost anorexic he's so skinny and he does come off as creepy.

Seriously though, is he (Ian Somerhalder) really a consideration?

I don't think he is. That article was old as I mentioned it came out around time snyder was offical and we know just as of a few weeks back snyder really hasn't started looking for cast yet. If any names who are likely to be looked it will probably be armie hammer and that joe mangiello guy. But hopefully we get some more details soon enough on how clark casting is going to go.

i dont recall if there was any legal reasons for film when it finally did start up with singer. Sure there was some stuff going on then which i believe related more to the superboy character and stuff. Which i remember they were trying to go after smallville and all that. But i dont think film legal stuff started up being a problem to around 2008ish.

Technically that's the definition of Smallville, a small screen series about a young Superman who could not fly until he was ready for the big screen franchise.

Yeah I remember team Singer getting all chummy with team Smallville back then. They shared the same filming local I believe and now team Snyder is filming in the area. I guess it's just cost effective.

no singer film shot in syndey austrilia totally. Only things smallville shared with them really was no jonanthan kent around, and sorta the look of the fos. And casting i was just saying when that first article came out with ian and a few others names, weeks later snyder came out and said he wasnt even at that time started looking at casting. Which was like early nov i believe. I am sure casting has began now. I still hope at least clark picked/signed/announced by the end of jan/early feb. Cause they should have him set first so it gives said actor all the time needed for all the prep stuff. Where as lead villain/lois/perry/jimmy/etc.... supporting characters could be signed closer to film going into production or heck even after production has started.

Well, I hope by February, we'll at least know the storyline, so speculation on villains and stuff can be clearer.

yea i hope so too billy, all i really want by feb is at least clark cast and know what villain(s) are to be in film. i could wait a bit longer for villain/lois/supporting characters casting.

If they cast someone new as Clark/ Superman for the reboot film, I hope this doesn't put restrictions on SV and let them end the show the way they deserve to end.

the show doesnt really have any restrictions left on it. The producers have said so. Plus by the time the reboot starts shooting come june/july as its been stated is possible start date, production on smallville will have already wrapped in april and final episodes aired in may. So i dont think the reboot will have any issues to have with sv.

I've always liked Welling and I supported him for Returns!But now my answer is"not so sure-hell no!".....I re-watched all Smallville seasons(skipped many filler episodes But still)and even The Fog remake with him in it and I finally realized that..

He reminds me so much of Dean Cain(Ironic!?)/Casper Van Dean&Mark Decascos cause they are all good looking/young/had shots at big characters But yet IMO there acting skills are very very hit&miss and with Dean&Decascos..They are mostly exclusive to TV movies/TV shows&Straight to DVD films and that worries me about Welling's career after Smallville!

I'm still a fan/I'll look for his other acting work and I think he really deserves to finally wear the Superman suit and be called Superman for more than a scene in the last episode of the series!!But the thought of him on the big screen makes me do mini face-palms and especially for big movies!..I sure wish him luck.

Yea for me I do love welling and would love to see him do a superman film. With so much riding on this reboot and it needing to be a fresh start over. I want to see a fresh new cast on board. I am sure with nolan on the project as he is as producer and snyder as director we should get some solid actors/actresses on this. I really can't wait to see who he gets on board.
