It just seems like everything would fit if Welling actually does play Superman this go round for the film. Smallville is wrapping up, they're saying it's a tv actor we all would like to see put on the suit, it not being a reboot/origin, just a stand alone story, and our first guess would be right.

If that's all true, it just makes sense for Welling to get the part...

Or at least I'd like to keep thinking that it all makes sense in my little world...

I'm with you, but you are making a big assumption. That is that Welling wants to do it. Based on some of his acting, attention to fans, interviews, and demeanor at shows, I get the feeling he's not all that into it. There are actors out there how would ripe of body parts to play Superman. Welling just seems to go "meh". No excitement. Maybe he's not into publicity, maybe he's a *****e, or maybe he is not interested. It makes sense to transition Welling/Smallvile into movie Superman, like many TV to movie transitions. Time will tell.

OR everything's not come together perfectly.
He'll be Superman regardless anyway, once Smallville's final season gets down to the wire.
But seeing him in a movie would be cool.

Maybe we'll hear who's Superman soon. I'd imagine we hear director first then who's playing Clark Kent/Superman, since they're already looking into actors for Superman... Or I think they are. t:

Hopefully Superman will actually get into a decent fight this time.

I don't see why people think it'd be confusing to have Tom play Superman in this movie. Most people would just be like "Oh, it's the guy who played him on TV." And the fans would already know it's not in continuity with Smallville... so yeah. I'd love for them to get Erica Durance for Lois too. They work well together. But that's just me.

The villain thing is a rumor as far as I know.

I think it would be confusing if you get Welling to play Superman in a movie but it doesn't follow Smallville continuity. People were confused whether SR was a sequel or reboot of the Donner films (it was both I guess). I don't think WB wants to take another chance at possibly confusing the general audience.

Yea but it's pretty safe to say that they are looking for someone young enough to be able to do possible sequels without aging to much in appearance. Welling is probably just the right age for that.

Again, just MHO, I think they are just worried about this film, with no thoughts on or about sequels....As someone else stated, I think it will kinda be like a random episode of the animated series.
IMO, *IF* we see the guy play superman again after this film, it will prolly be in a W.F. or a JL film ( nolan's rumored to be behind JL as well)

This is all just speculation on my part after reading a few bits and hearing the rumors..There could be 2 sequels for superman for all I know.

I'd like to see him as Superman outside of Smallville. Wasn't he suppose to appear as Clark Kent in Batman Begins, or was that just fake?
