Days of Future Past Hereee Kitty, Kitty, Kitty! : The Ellen Page/Shadowcat thread!

it really is, mon ami, it really is.

I would have even accepted Kitty going back in time and searching young Logan, so both could interact with FC cast, not JUST Wolverine. That way, they could release the DOFP comic cover with Hugh and Ellen alone, as a teaser, and it would have made much more sense.

AND, we would have had a girl on the past, something that right now, doesnt exist. Just a males team on the school.

I thought that too, and I think it could have worked.

I also wondered whether it would have worked for Iceman to go back in time too, and become stranded there so that when young Xavier came to his senses and founded the school, a young Iceman from the Original Five would be there already.

and a nod to original five, with at least Beast and Iceman together, and both being young looking.

each time I think about Ellen going to the 70's and sharing screen time with James McAvoy, Hoult, and a fight with Jennifer's Lawrence...

oh man, what a waste

In her phased state, if Kitty were to get enough of a boost/push causing her to travel faster than the speed of light, she would essentially travel backwards in time. That's the main gist of it, of course this is the bare bones explanation since I'm no physicist by any means, so this is my understanding of how it could work.

Maybe she phases Wolverine and while he's phased something gives her the jolt to send is body back into the past. It's not unheard of for Kitty's powers to go beyond her typical phasing. If I remember correctly, in one issue of Xtreme X-Men she was able to phase out of the Earth's rotation or something causing her to teleport across the globe.

OK that makes sense. I was thinking in the trailer when Xavier said he had a glimpse of the past... maybe it happened while he was being phased with Kitty or Kitty was phasing through him? Either way, it seems like it requires the three of them for this to work.

They didn't have to do the whole mind transfer thing.

Well to be honest, I wanted physical time travel like the other X-Men like Rogue, Shadowcat, Iceman going to the 70s and not just Wolverine.

But I haven't seen this mind time-travel yet so it could be really cool and new.

Mind time-travel was in comic.
Physical time-travel was in TAS cartoon.

Maybe in future movies, when we will have Cable, and he will have time-travel technology, we will see physical time-travel to 80's.

And then you'll have these same people complaining that they butchered the source material by NOT having the mind transfer. Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

Exactly. People want to have their cake and eat it too.

You know I have for years listened to people go on and on about changes from
comics. Here they try to honor the original comic book with mindswitch time travel, and even honor it by having Kitty play key role yet they want them to
cahnge it now by having tons of physical time travel which would be major depture from comics even more that what they are doing in DOFP:doh:

Same as with I keep hearing people here goign where's the trailer? And then when they get it they go I hate this since it's comic con preview with nothing
new and no sentinles In it:whatever:

In my opinion, this time-travel should be a 1-off thing.

I'm not sure, I'm torn on that. It could be cool that this is THE time travel X-Men movie. On the other hand, there's so much time travel in the comics you could almost say X-Men is about mutants, aliens and time travel. It could be cool

The X-Men have time/dimensioned traveled so much that it's just another day at the office for them at this point.

You have to take note that Marvel Comics is releasing like 10 X-Men related comics per month. They could so many different things in future X-Men movies.

Poor Kitty. She loses what is one of her biggest storylines to Wolverine because we can't have a girl headlining a big blockbuster. I guess I'm crazy but I'd rather see Ellen Page's Kitty in the lead for this film than see Wolverine and Friends #5. Damn Fox.

She wasn't alive in the past.

^exactly
give the timeline Logan made since to be the time traveler over Kitty (this is not an exact translation of the comic) but, just because wolverine it the one who goes back doesn't mean he's the lead

this is a very full cast, and not everyone can't get equal screen time

however, though Kitty isn't the one traveling she does seem to play a very important role in being the one who sends him back (even if her role is smaller, she plays a key role in the plot, which without her he wouldn't be able to go back)

so, I would say she still has a lead role in this version of the story

Ellen Page's Kitty Pryde being the time traveler would have been nothing short of bizarre, as she was little more than a cameo until the third film and has had almost no interaction with any of the characters alive in 1973. Everything that was poignant and relevant to the comic book version's journey would have been lost on her movie counterpart.

still makes you wonder if there was a way she could have been the time traveler... would she have been? or would it still been wolverine

But she's Ellen Page and Kitty Pryde. Anna Paquin had a large role as Rogue in x1 without having a prior film highlighting her character. That's the problem with the franchise, they're like "who have been main characters? Logan, Xavier and Magneto. So let's keep them as the only main characters that have any significance"

They didn't come up with the time travel rules and then went "Who can be the time traveler? Well only Logan can survive it so it has to be him!"

They went "What kind of plot device can we come up with to make sure Logan is the time traveler? Healing factor!"

spot on, post.

thats how it works. The idea of Hugh working with FC cast came back in 2011.

This storyline was the perfect story to do it, so here it is.

Again DOFP is like the All-Stars edition of the X-Men series. It would odd if they chose someone who have been only a supporting character in 1 movie and let the guy who already headlined 2 solo movies and appeared in all of the X-Men movies, take the backseat.

I'm up for sharing screentime and importance but this isn't really the best time to make Wolverine a supporting character.

By the picture Singer posted on his twitter a long time ago of Kitty, it seems she doesn't have a traditional X-men suit. I wonder why? She seems to be in a brown jacket with a black t-shirt. Maybe she isn't part of the team anymore? Or maybe that is her X-Men suit.

Her costume is definitely not in line w/ the costumes of Wolverine, Storm, Prof X, Magneto, Colossus, Iceman and the new mutants. I'm hoping she has another outfit.

And the costumes that we saw from the other X-Men, are not a traditional X-Men suit since we haven't seen these costumes before. And according to Singer there's no X-Men in this movie.

Yeah I want her to a suit like wolverine/storm etc but I doubt it. She is sending wolverine back in time in the outfit we saw. Hoping for some Kitty action. Didn't she say she was doing action??

Maybe she doesn't need to suit up because she could just phase through stuff. So they just gave her a plain t-shirt/black jeans and a vintage looking jacket?

Yes, she doesn't seem to have a suit :(
But its okay, she still looks great. I mean its ELLEN PAGE. Lol
Hoping to see her fight, it was mentioned somewhere that she would but I don't remember!

In design point-of-view, it feels lazy that they didn't have the effort to give Kitty Pryde a costume similar to the other mutants. The group of mutants fighting together should have a cohesive look and this is fiction, they could easily get away with it.
