But what could one aspect BF had that was better than in TDKR be?

I think they dealt with the Batman considering retirement thing better for one thing. He comes to the conclusion he's "Batman Forever" not because he has to be,but because he wants to be.In TDKR,he's willing to hand the keys to someone else and chill sippin' an overpriced drink in another country.I can't see Bats ever doing that.

Needless to say,I'll take the very faithful version of Robin by Chris O'Donnell over John "Robin" Blake every time.

That's Robin John Blake to you, sir.

Never forget! :argh:

The only reason why you can't see it happening is because you and all of us really have been programmed to think this way since the comics can't end. So the stories and characterization are written to fit that. Bruce always comes back, Bruce never gives up his crusade. You have to get out of that mentality because it was always going to happen, that one day, a comic or film would be released where Bruce does hand it over. It's really the main reason why he has multiple sidekicks. Other than the fact that it attracts more kids to buy comics, they stick around because it's really about Batman handing it over to them once he gets old or if he dies in battle. But they can't really follow through with that. When Dick takes the mantle, it doesn't last. So they build stories around it to get Bruce back in (like writing him to have this Batman forever mentality).

I chose to let go of that brainwashed mentality. And once i let go of it, i was able to accept and enjoy the idea of Bruce walking away. What gave me more comfort as a fan of Bruce Wayne, was that i looked at it like this: He's gone through a LOT and if any hero or man deserves a happy ending it's him.

Plus i don't really like seeing Bruce as an old man, dying in misery. Growing as an old miserable man who can't physically be Batman anymore, and that's the only reason why he isn't out there. I dont like that characterization even though i like the visuals of Batman Beyond.

So Bruce passing the mantle means that Batman actually does go on forever. Literally. Plus he gets a well-deserved happy ending. It's not about the amount of years he puts in as the caped crusader, it's what he has done in that time.

I won't take the faithful Chris O'Donnell version of Robin over Blake simply because i don't like the actor and i've never been a Robin fan anyhow. I like the origin and then when Dick is Nightwing, but i don't care about the in between stuff. So ill settle for Blake even though i liked how O'Donnell becomes Robin in BF.

But The Forever Robin can do gymnastics and stuff.

I like Blake more than the Schumacher Robin, who I always found cheesy and irritatingly whiny.

It's not so much O'Donnell's fault, it's just the writing and Schumacher.

Blake couldn't do laundry with his feet.

POINT to Forever Robin!

In fairness, we never saw Blake doing laundry. It's possible he has mad feet-laundry-making skills.

I hated that Bruce got to retire in TDKR, that's for sure. But why exactly did Bruce change his mind in BF? Because he remembered the giant bat?

Me too. But because I wouldn't consider John Blake to be a Robin at all. The last-minute "Robin" name didn't make that character any Robin IMO. There's just NOTHING Robin about him. This "Robin" name thing was merely a bone with some meat around it thrown to fans.

Blake was never meant to be Robin. His first name being Robin was just a nod to the character of Robin, since in TDKR Blake is basically Batman's little helper (and he had certain aspects of Robin, like the orphan thing).

So comparing Blake and Dick from Batman Forever like they're both Robin is kind of unfair. Blake wasn't meant to be a full-fledged version of Robin in the first place.

I still remember the pre-TDKR release comments regarding Blake.

- "He's just a cop, that's all!"
- "OMG, pls shut up, he's not Robin"
- "He has nothing to do with Bruce, he's just a cop!"

I bet those people **** their pants when they saw the orphan bones scene, the "Robin Blake" wink, and the handing over of the legacy. :funny:

When I saw he got his own action figure that some crap was up.

I think (well,at least IMO) the characters should stay "frozen in time" so to speak.I mean, that's why I wasn't a big fan of Batman Beyond.I don't ever really wonder what Batman would do when he gets too old to be Batman. To me,he'll always be 40-ish.

Another reason I'm so impressed with the BF Robin,is because I'm doubtful we'll ever get the whole "Circus tragedy" angle in another film version.I think chances are they'll steer clear of Robin and go straight to Nightwing at this point.

I literally face palmed when he said his name was Robin. I almost stood up and shouted "are you kidding me?!?".

That porking Wayne Enterprises secretary called him Robin. She was totally hitting on him.

"I like that name". Yeah, I bet you do.

I remember the reports Joseph Gordon-Levitt was playing Alberto Falcone, and the speculation he was playing The Joker because of his resemblance to Ledger.

The funniest though was all the hoopla about Anthony Michael Hall before TDK (OMGZ TOTES TEH RIDDLER!!!!111), and then he just a random reporter who was barely in the movie.

I can't blame her for that, personally. That cop uniform did some things for JGL.

I guess that was part of it (He was reminded of why he became Batman in the first place.)But,I think Alfred saying how Dick needed guidance gave him the impetus to turn his Batman from the vengeance minded killer of the Burton films,to a more positive symbol.

A lot of people like to quibble over "was Blake reallllly Robin?" But for me it's the same as Mandarin in IM 3.For the Nolan universe Blake IS Robin. He's not a particularly good interpretation of the character IMO,but he IS Nolan's Robin.

Eh. I wouldn't go so far as to say Blake was Robin. More like he was the closest Nolan was ever willing to get to Robin with a ten foot pole.

He was a nod to Robin, not literally Robin.

"Anthony Michael Hall's character will be jealous of Bruce Wayne and copy him. He also drives a Lambo and tries to 1-up him."

Wrong. :funny:

Well, technically he was literally Robin. :funny:

How about all those "Nolan will never introduce or hint at Robin, he's in a baby carriage somewhere". Yeah, a baby carriage at St. Swithens!

There is this "Robinesque" thing going on in the movie with him being an orphan, driving Bruce around, being told to wear a mask, and all. It's in this weird territory where it's like, "is he or isn't he".

I also remember this guy who claimed to have the script and was babbling in lengthy detail about Bane's "earthquake machine", how Gotham actually gets leveled at the end of the movie, etc.

Oh, and Foley is working for Bane and murders Blake, and Miranda/Talia kills Lucius Fox.

I always found it kinda funny how Bruce hands over all his tech and armory over to Blake who, while promising has absolutely no training at all to become the next Batman!

Maybe Ra's had other daughters...
