How I Met Your Mother - Part 4

The death of the mother thing would've made for a heartfelt ending but when it's all like, kids this is about how I love Aunt Robin, **** NO!

I wonder what the actors who played the kids think about the ending within the context of the finale. :hmm

So Ted ends up with RObin? Explain the whole Robin and Barney thing...then. please. I haven't been keeping tabs on this show since season 3 or 4 I can't remember...I've always been a Ted/Robin shipper...always will be... Good to know that Ted has always been destined to be with Robin... I wouldn't mind seeing the finale...is it online yet?

Before you watch this finale, you need to watch the rest of the series in order to understand whats wrong with it.

Best part of the entire Finale. That was just a fantastic moment for Barney.

It was. It was amazing.

What's even more amazing is that NPH will lose yet another best actor Emmy bid to Jim Parsons, because doing that little laugh sniffle and robotic tone that Sheldon Cooper does is apparently more impressive than the range of 30 emotions and incredible character nuance that Barney Stinson displays.

Neil's acting carried this show. The scene with Elle was the penultimate example of what he's capable of. The Emmy Awards mean nothing.

Boy it's scary when the more notable Hypesters who were fans of the show don't vocalize their opinions of the finale. It's like the calm before the **** storm coming.

When you view in the context of real people going through life it works. It's just kind of weak when you look at this as a viewer and realise that this is what the show was building towards.

I stopped watching the show cause I still wanted Ted and Robin to be together. :(

Sawyer is probably in an uncontrollable rage making people cry in real life

Terrible ending. Anyone who has been following the show wouldn't have wanted to see Ted and Robin together, especially after how they built up the mother and made everyone fall in love with her. She was perfect for Ted, and they consistently showed why Robin wasn't compatible with him. I didn't like the mother dying at all and can't believe they went there, which makes the whole series much darker. But then to add insult to injury by suddenly sticking him with Robin after it spent so much time showing him let go?

And season 9 was a waste. To undo all of that in a few minutes with Robin and Barney's divorce? Why did they make the whole season about their wedding? I hated how Barney reverted to his old self after all the character development.

Definitely not watching How I Met Your Dad. Not after this.

Wait, 'How I met your Dad' is happening? They definitely lost a viewer here.

This is more or less how I felt.

I loved her interaction with Ted and the gang at the robot fighting thing. :)

You know I hate to say it, but I worry that this is going to taint my viewing of the show in the future... I'll probably do the whole thing once through because at the end of the day the show was very well written for what it was (a multi-camera sitcom) and the characters were perfectly realized. But at the same time, it'll be hard to look back at the show and not kind of feel cheated. This woman who we spend nine years waiting for is going to die and the show is going to end with him and Robin. I'm not sure I can watch the show without that in the back of my mind.

WEll this sucks. What a potential waste of a good show cause I really liked it when it first aired... *sighs*

Well... I haven't watched the finale. In fact, I stopped watching like 2 and a half seasons ago because the show was becoming less and less funny, and after reading all this stuff you guys are posting, I feel like (correct me if I'm wrong) what was once a typical -and sometimes very funny- sitcom, became relying increasingly on flashbacks, flashforwards, scenes, cuts, and dozens of intern jokes and gags and stories and memories and promises that it just collapsed on its own weight. The point of a sitcom is just a situation comedy where you can relax for 20 minutes and just laugh, right?. This show tried to do a lot with that, and I mean... a lot. It got so complex, trying to create elaborated jokes that at least when I stopped watching weren't funny, not even a chuckle out of me. It became so over the top that it just couldn't handle it anymore and they tried to be 'cool' one more time, pull one last rabbit from the hat and it just didn't work, it kinda erased a lot of the points they raised all this years. That's bad writing.
