It says to me that he saw it as a "Toy Movie" and didn't care about the film enough to direct it himself so he gave it away.
By the way the quote was "Godlike in his directorial skills" in comparison to Bay. I never compared Speilberg to an actual deity....
 
no ****. i never said you did. but if he's a godlike director, then he must know a thing or two about directing, right? if we agree on that, and he recommends bay be the director of this film, then clearly he thinks bay's got something good to contribute, no?

or are you suggesting that spielberg didn't want to direct it so intentionally recommended someone who he knew to be a subpar cheeseball director to tank the film?

I never said he was a "Godlike director".
I said Spielberg,Jackson and Raimi have godlike directing skills in comparison to Bay which isnt saying much.
I wish Speilberg was directing this. I like alot of his films. Say what you will about him but if he directed Transformers at least the camera would be still occaisionally.

That's he's busy prepping/directing a number of other films. I believe one of them involves some guy named Lincoln...
