The Amazing Spider-Man 2 How should the Goblin look???

Despite the faithful, classic iconographic Spidey suit, I seriously don't see this :

fitting at all in the Webbiverse. That being said, what would you guys want to happen instead of that? Some don't like the mutate idea, some do but just don't want USM Hulk-Goblin...

Well, it just needs to be altered. Spider-Man's classic suit is phenomenal and always has been. Not much really needs to be changed. But even Gobby has changed a bit since his first appearance:

but i think with the picture you posted, it mostly comes down to toning down the magenta in his outfit. Dark, dark purple is where it's at. And redoing the leotard. Because it's hard to take seriously. Not to mention theres some really sinister and fantastic changes they could make to the glider and pumpkin bombs.

Just a bunch of little tweaks. and you've got yourself a villain that, while looking comical commits merciless atrocities and ends up making you feel on edge.

I agree. I do. And the leotard statement correlates with my point. I'm just using evidence of what we know so far with how our villains look. Electro isn't a bright green and yellow costume, rhino probably isn't going to be a person bonded with a polymer that looks like he's wearing a rhino costume, lizard wasn't wearing a lab coat the whole time, nor had a dino-like snout. The villains are turning out to be a realistic grounded approach. So I don't see them going the leotard route.

Saw this in the creepy pasta thread. Kind of reminded me of the 616 Green Goblin a little bit. I'd like to see something spooky this time around with Goblin. Especially since The Lizard wasn't scary like he should have been.

I don't see that design in something that is not Joel Schumacher's Spider-Man trilogy.

I feel like Webb and Co could easily try and get some type of mask like this.

And not to step on any Green Goblin fans toes but...I'm honestly not against them using a design similar to this.

I really hope they make him scary. Goblin should scare the crap out of me. They should treat him like a scary movie villain/monster. I mean he is basically joker with superpowers! I want to be able to tell that he is insane, unpredictable, ruthless, manipulative, cruel, etc. When spider-man mees him for the first time, i want my first reaction to be "Run, motherf***** ,RUN!!

Add a hood and I support this look. I want something creepy as well. Milky eyes, creepy smile, and all that stuff.

As long as it isn't a Power Ranger I'm down for whatever. Mind you, the creepier/scarier it gets the more they push the PG-13 rating. A lot of kids will see this movie, Marc Webb is directing this not James Wan.

That's some creepy ****... but I don't want to see another transformation. I think of GG as basically evil Batman, so from the neck down I'd like something like what he's wearing here:

An armor, but of a medieval, samurai-esque sort, with some raggedy pieces for effect. It doesn't have to be green, because that's what you have this for:

Yet another mask, but one that doesn't look bought from Toys R Us. It's all tribal and ancient-looking, and you could use the excuse that it symbolizes some ancient babylonian demon... or GOBLIN!!! You could have Norman have an obsession with ancient weaponry and tribal stuff, like in SM1, because it wasn't a bad idea at all.

I just really don't want to see another transformation... and into another green guy, to boot. If hadn't been Bendis who came up with that, I suspect more people would hate it.

i don't like the idea of a physical transformation either. to me, that takes away from the character.

i like the idea of Goblin being real janky, like a home made vibe in his case actually adds to his menace, I think. not Halloween costume stuff, but more keeping to an idea that the Goblin should be coming from the actor. any mask needs to be something opaque enough to let the actor carry the Goblin scenes.
which to me means almost no mask at all, more like small things that shroud or obscure his identity, but only in the slightest way. like if you knew Norman Osbourn well, and you had a 'calm' run in with the Green Goblin, and were able to rationally sit and look at who was talking to you, you'd be in shock, becuz it would be Norman Osbourn, and you would know this, but the way he was carrying himself and completely not recognizing you, would be enough to make you think you were the one who was crazy.

I knew someone who was schizophrenic and when their mood changed, it was like, you'd be looking at a different face. like if I was on acid watching them, i would swear that their bones were rearranging underneath their skin.

everyone should do an experiment and go in their bathroom right now. lock the door, and then twist your face up into something really grotesque. then look around. walk around the bathroom a little and touch different things. you're body's already gonna be holding itself a different way. go back and look at the mirror and start talking. have a conversation with someone in your head. look around again at the bathroom.

then snap back to normal, look around at the bathroom again. it probably even looks different to you now than a minute ago, when you were crazy faced.
go back to the mirror and say something in your normal face, try and have a conversation with someone in your head. it'll sound fake. whenever you try to act like yourself it sounds fake.

so i basically mean, no actual mask.
best Goblin ever would be this way. I don't know too much about the guy playing Osborne, or even 100% sure if Norman is the Goblin, but Green Goblin should be mostly about the actor and any costumes and fx should be used to amplify the actor's performance.
Green Goblin is crazy let's not forget, and not in any kind of cute or even comic book way.
the guy is a human who is broken in the head.

villains like Carnage, to me, suck. they are just loony. they aren't even real psychopaths, they're like Wile E Coyote but R-rated and homicidal.

cuz you can't actually capture the kind of emptiness or broken-ness that exists in serial killers in a superhero comic book. it's not something that exists, it's something that doesn't exist.

but Green Goblin isn't Carnage, he's not Joker, he's not a cartoon character, Goblin is a human who is messed up, and that is why he is such a great villain. that doesn't mean he is 'sympathetic' either, he's just been added on to well over the years.

Yeah Green goblin should definitely be a guy who goes insane, gains super strength, dresses up as a goblin on a glider and utilizes pumpkin bombs, gadget and cunning to fight Spider-Man not some giant CGI demon hulk that will essentially look like a slightly different version of the Lizard.

I want a sane Norman, who uses the Green Goblin persona to do the things he normally can't do. I wouldn't mind if he goes nuts at the end of the Movie though. I just want them to make it clear that Norman is a scumbag, even when he is sane.

Yeah, I want Norman to be a 100% psychopath who (like most real psychopaths out there) hides it well, and lets it all out as Green Goblin. You should get the feeling though that Norman is a cold person from the get go.

Wanting him to be sane and secretly a psychopath negates itself. And just because I want him to go insane before choosing to be the Goblin doesn't mean he can't be cold and evil before that.

A psychopath who appears to be sane. That's the case with many real psychopaths, mostly the worst. They hide it well.

Yes if he had an older Patrick Bateman feel to him (minus the satire). That would be brutal.
