The Amazing Spider-Man 2 How should the Goblin look???

If they go for the armoured costume route, which face it is more visually exciting than a leotard.

They should go for a more ridgy and scaly look like in this concept art.

It has a more menacing and sharp look to it

I feel like Webb and Co could easily try and get some type of mask like this.

Having him wear a mask like that as a face of nis new identity like Rorschach would be the best.

You got to give him a reason to wear it, a ski mask can hide his identity, wearing a Goblin mask because it speaks to his insanity and reflects his inner body image could work great

As long as it isn't a Power Ranger I'm down for whatever. Mind you, the creepier/scarier it gets the more they push the PG-13 rating. A lot of kids will see this movie, Marc Webb is directing this not James Wan.

The scene where Lizard surprised Gwen was pretty jumpy scary for PG-13 not to mention the amount they got away with in The Wolverine

I want cloth, why are people so fascinated by a mechanized Goblin? Too similar to the first if you ask me.

He kind of did it himself with the mechanical glider and pumpkin balls.

It is. But then again you kinda have to ask yourself how will the GG end up looking based on what we know about this Webb universe. For one, they are emphasizing the technology. The Oscorp scene with Peter and Connors using that Stark looking computer to create the formula, the Ganali device, MP3 player in the web shooters, cell phones everywhere, the internet usage, etc, etc, etc. As much as the GG might have some retro look to him, the technological aspect may very well come into play for how he looks.

Probably because its questionable how good a direct adaptation of the Green Goblin's look would work in a movie. Note especially that masks *don't work that way* in real life; if Norman simply wears a rubber mask, its going to look like a rubber mask, not a face.

He should look scary. how they achieve that, I don't mind so much.

They should combine Ultimate and 616 goblin. A transformed monster-esque creature that still utilizes technology (glider).

This is what I've been thinking too. If people don't want a Goblin that wears a helmet or a silly mask, then maybe we can have him physically transform but not so much that he's as large as the Ultimate version. I don't want to see a "green Chris Cooper" but a temporary transformed version if the Oz formula is taken regularly so that you can't exactly tell that it's Norman.
Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker in TDK had me on the edge of my seat in some scenes and I consider his performance as one of the best I've seen for a superhero villain.
If the Green Goblin could be somewhat similar then that would come across great if there was no mask/helmet to cover Norman's face so that he can give a menacing performance, making the Green Goblin scarier and a lot more intimidating.
This Goblin can then use his glider and pumpkin bombs etc., using the majority of all this technology on weaponry but then not too much emphasis on his suit (like how in some rumours they were basing the new suit off Iron Man and Catwoman's costume designs), though the armour has to be pretty strong. I don't mind the sort of design in the concept art with the sharp armour but it might look cooler if some of it was concealed under a cloak.

I want 'highly intelligent but bat**** crazy Norman in a suit'. Bonus points if he's flying around the city trying to take over organized crime like the early days.

Won't happen though but hey there's always hope for the next reboot in the 2020's.

totally, exactly... I want gang war Goblin.

next reboot, yes, this better happen.

I wanna see Hammerhead, Tinkerer, Enforcers, Kingpin, Shocker... the whole deal.

I hope for humanity's sake this is just a "comics series" Ultimate Goblin and not what we are getting in the films!

yeah if that happens, i will just pretend this movie entirely doesn't exist. they got Carnage I think in the same line, so it's not really tied to the movies.

I mean if Webb did even do an Ultimate Goblin, he wouldn't be having fire all over and big horns on his head. even without all that, the character is physically silly.

I've never got Ultimate Goblin, I don't see how it adds anything at all to the character. what's the payoff supposed to be with that?

I want the same. GG should be evil, twisted, crazy, maniacal, and a great threat to both Peter and Spider-man.

It looks like it is just a version of the UGG from the cartoon. But, I totally agree and will be greatly upset if they choose this design for the movies.

I want a combo of the USM Goblin and 616 Goblin looks.

I want him to be a transformation.

I want him to the size he is in 616, but I want him to be really cut. To the point of having it look inhuman.

I also want his features to be very creature-esque like the USM Goblin (first appearances; USM cartoon).

Hence why Sam ditched the super expressive, mechanized face look for the goblin in SM1 (as shown in test videos).

Yup.

Either it has to be a static helmet, like the Raimi one, or the goblin has to be a product of transformation, and he physically looks like that, not a mask.

there's no middle ground.

Not unless you want to enter "Spy Kids" territory.

People understand how masks work- that they don't adhere to the muscles of your face to show every expression you make. Norman wearing a mask with exagerrated goblin features that somehow mimics the facial expressions he makes is stepping into cartoon territory.

I think if it works for Mission Impossible, it can for a Spider-Man Movie. Though I would prefer the transformation.

There were two big problems with the Power Rangers reject costume:
1. It looked really stupid and not at all threatening.
2. Dafoe is great with expressions and he does a lot of his best acting with his face. Putting him behind that stupid-looking mask wastes his talent, he was much creepier out of the armor than in it.

Hulk Goblin would look stupid as well. Maybe something akin to his Spectacular Spider Man costume, but more creepy and demonic looking.
