The Dark Knight How should this movie begin?

I think they will show Joker only in the beginning and then in 3rd act, when Batman realizes that Joker was a killer of the main people in mafia's families.

But in the beginning we will see Joker in the dark or half of him in shadow to keep him as mysterious character.

Should start with Bruce being tormented by another bad dream of his parents murder

BLACK. A low KEENING which becomes SCREECHING that BUILDS
and BUILDS until-

RED flickers through black as the screen BURSTS into life:

Clouds of REELING BATS silhouetted against a blood red sky,
bolting away from camera, MASSING in the sky... FORMING a
density the shape of an enormous BAT-LIKE SYMBOL.

More BATS mass, swamping the symbol, DARKENING the screen to-

BLACK. Distant commotion of cars running their engines and
muffled voices slowly builds until we see a YOUNG BOY. The
young boy is BRUCE WAYNE, aged 9, being escorted to a waiting
police car by a young JIM GORDON and we are -

EXT. WAYNE MANOR - FRONT DRIVEWAY - MORNING

YOUNG BRUCE looks back over his shoulder, tense and worried,
yet unaware of what is really going on, as ALFRED, Wayne’s
Butler, comes bolting out of the front door.

How about it begins by Batman doing his normal route through Gotham looking for evil doers when BAM he heard an explosion of a bank getting robbed and you see some of Arkham criminals join together under the supervision of Scarecrow and Batman has to take them out.

With the text "Just kidding, Ledger isn't the Joker"

but I doubt that'd happen :(

LOL.

but still, it can work pretty well i think.

It should begin exactly where Begins left off. Him looking into the crimes Jack Napier has committed, then go on from there and show his transformation into the Joker however they decide to do that. Either way I feel so good about the 2nd Batman. Begins was probably the best comic book movie ever made, good work DC. Avi could learn a thing or 2 from you guys about picking directors.

However, you're going to ruin your selves with Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern. I mean Superman hasn't made two hundred million and won't.

Jack Napier? Who is Jack Napier?

The final scene in Batman Begins makes it seem if the Joker has already been made - no need to show how he was created.

DC has the two best comic book movies ever made: Begins and S Returns :)

Flash will be fine - it will compare favorably with Spidey. I am not yet sold on WW and the Green Latern could be very good, as long as Jack Black doesnt play him.

The movie should begin with... BRUCE WAYNE! We should see what's changed since Batman Begins, so I'd like to see the beginning of the film featuring Bruce Wayne and eventually see the new Batcave, etc. After 10-15 mins. I think we'd see The Batman. That's what I want to see.

I don't know how exactly it should begin, but definitely with something we're not expecting. Catch the audience off-guard, that's how you begin sequels. Let them know this is not going to be a safe, predictable movie.

NO! LET them know this is a safe, predictable movie for the first three, four mins. and then BOOM!

Yeah, that's kinda what I mean - 3 or 4 mins is still the beginning really.

first 5 minutes should be action packed, Batman doing his thing .Then settle into the plot

I don't prefer an action scene opening... is it just me or was the action just so flat in Begins... I understand there were limitations with the Batman suit on... but the action scenes did not flow one bit... I couldn't even tell what was going on half the time... any suggestions on how to fix the problem or are we stuck with it for the next two films...

Disagree. The very first 3-5 minutes I want people to be thinking 'wtf? am I in the right movie? where's batman?'. Catch them off-guard.

Kinda like in Last Crusade, or the beginning of Season 2 of Lost, if anyone knows what I mean. Of course whatever happens must be integral to the plot, but just not immediately understandable.

You save the suprise opening for part three... part two is usually an action scene opening... or something that jumps into the story right away...

Action in Begins was very good. But no, no action opening.. Too much Schumacher...

I can see it now!

DC flash logo appears followed by a SLICK SILVER WB logo silhouetted by a marooned sky that quickly gets drowned by thousands of bats screeching past the screen, they hint-ly form the shape of the Batman Begins logo. The Bats keep coming, flapping by ever more prominently, more and more, their screams become deafening until the screen turns black and all we hear is the painful, frightful, sound of thousands of bats.

SUDDENLY they stop, we are in the movie.

The black screen is only followed by a whisper of theme music, and street sounds. The city commotion becomes more prominent as we begin to descend onto a city landscape. We begin to focus on one building, as we dredge closer to it we see a HUGE 'W' on the building, its WAYNE ENTERPRISES. We tilt the camera 90 degrees as we scale up the building as if flying. We reach the rooftop and a noticeable figure overcomes the screen. We pan upwards, higher and higher. Until we see...

FANBOY (me): This is the Mother ****in Batman movie, bithces!

...dressed in a semi-homemade Robin out fit!

see...my last post I left out the detail...

the beginning should be very quiet...no music in the background or anything....

just Ledger as Joker or pre-Joker and his victims....talking to them in a calm manner...

and then *BOOM* gunshot...

Naah... I don't think Nolan should reveal Joker so early...

I think it needs to start with a flashback of the Joker being forced into the robbery at the chemical plant and having to put on the red hood costume, but not showing the robbery.

Then I want to see some escalation as we jump ahead a few months. Scarecrow is now totally insane and in full costume and he's taken the staff at Arkham hostage. Batman shows up to find Scarcrow has already killed some staff with a pitchfork and the two duke it out with Batman winning of course. Outside you've got Gordon and Dent waiting and you find out right away that the 3 are already associates when Batman informs them Scarcrow is tied up and waiting for them in a cell, then Gordon and Dent inform him about the latest Joker crime.

Batman goes back to the cave and you see it's been improved, but you also see that he's been spending lots of time down there. With Rachel gone, he's become withdrawn from being himself, who is somewhere between Batman and Bruce Wayne and is now just Batman. He's got a cot in the cave and in conversation with Alfred, you find out he's been negleglting a lot of his BW responsibilities and leaving Fox in charge of everything at WE.

Maybe Batman can explain that he has to be down there because he's still not perfect, he's made too many mistakes and laments over some things including not being able to catch this Joker character and maybe a flashback of a silly character in a red hood falling into a vat of toxic waste during a botched robbery. . . .

I'd like to see an establishing shot of the new look Wayne Manor relocated close to the Batcave of course. Then we could have the camera take us underground to the Batcave where Bruce/Batman is conducting more information regarding the Joker. And then Alfred walks in. Just a thought.

a good idea that i can improve:)

it opens after giant batsymbol of bats

you see just a shot of the victims face, gagged and beaten (think kill bill vol.1), with a a gun to his/her head. you hear ledger's creepy joker voice as he tells them what he is about to do... or something else creepy...then... GUNSHOT!!! fade out with crazy joker laugh...

the incident isnt part of the plot and isnt known about by batman. joker is formally introduced later in the movie.

I think it should begin with a crime happening, show some thugs robbing a bank at night, there's like 4 of them in the bank, there talking to each other, all a sudden one of them dissapears..... fight ensues....
