The Dark Knight Hugo Weaving Discussion

There are a lot of good choices for Freeze and Riddler both.

Frankly, I don't need to hear the riddle me this/that line. I'd rather see the Riddler kind of reimagined as something too sinister for silly quips.

There's a Poirot mystery called the ABC Murders, about someone sending him letters that warn of impending murders and challenge him to stop them. The crimes seemed random but were actually intricate in their design. I always thought it'd be great to see Batman up against someone that meticulous and inhumane, killing only for the sake of pride in stumping him (even though ABC winds up being quite different from that in the end).

For such a criminal, my choice is Malcovich. An intense, quiet Riddler with a subdued exterior that masks a genius raped by madness. Who else could perform such a man as effortlessly?

-- END!

Yeah Jason Isaacs as Freeze would own all. I do like Ribisi for Riddler... I like Hugo Weaving but I can't think of what Bat villain he could play. He's a really intense guy. I think there's a role for him, but damn if can think of it right now...

I have Hugo tagged as my pick for Firefly, should he ever appear.

I'd like to see Firefly in the same movie as Freeze....could be good duality. You know, a whole Fire vs Ice thing.

After seeing V I would love to see Hugo Weaving play any role - except the Joker or Two Face - Bettany and Schrieber are too perfect.

If you don’t mind a race change, Chiwetel Ejiofor might be interesting.

The only black actor I can see as The Riddler is this guy:

I don’t know, Ejiofor has the calm and intelligent thing needed for The Riddler.

Ejiofor would look extremely badass in a green suit and bowler hat.

I like that, in concept. Although I fear that any movie about Freeze that doesn't focus solely on him would not do him the justice that he deserves (assuming of course that they were going with the Paul Dini Freeze, the only one that doesn't suck).

Nothing wrong with a race change.

Yeah, I can see that. Definitely. He'd probably pull it off better than most white guys could. Especially with the purple tie and kato mask.

Funny thing, though - I bet a Nolan Riddler wouldn't wear question marks, or a loud suit. No practical reason for it. The Riddler's a threat because of his superior intellect. His brain is not dependant on his threads. No matter how smooth they are...

I really really really like that idea. Infact he is now my numbah 2 right behind Martin Freeman.

Well, Cheadle does seem to convey "intellectual" with every fiber of his being...

Yes, if only he played Arthur Dent - then he would be my number one man for the Riddler.

i woudl just imaigne him saying "Riddle me This,Riddle me that" riddler should be in a movie and have him play him! not this next one thoughe.
He'd be a good Riddler but a better Joker.

Edward Norton but hed never do it

Great choice for the Riddler and you never know - Norton may be swayed by obvious quality Nolan (and the rest of the cast) brings to the table.

Plus, Norton isnt as serious as everone thinks - one of his favourite films is '40 year old virgin'!

I agree with the earlier point made about Hugo Weaving too. After seeing 'V' - he's got the talent and certainly the verbal dexterity to craft an amazing performance.

Both great choices.

1) Hugh Laurie

2) Simon Pegg

3) Chiwetel Ejiofor

4) Giovanni Ribisi

I've been a long time supporter of Goldblum for The Riddler. He's been my top pick for as long as I can remember.

My other choices are:

John Malkovich

This would be interesting, especially since him and Bale played in Empire of the Sun together. They had really good chemistry.
