The Dark Knight Hugo Weaving Discussion

I think he´d be a better Riddler. There might be some lobbying for him, but his casting would go against Nolan´s preference for a non-famous actor. Weaving got pretty famous after the Matrix and LOTR trilogies.

he could probably play the part very well.
but he is not my choice.
a different aussie should get the role, Hulme :)

After thinking about it a bit more, I think Weaving could be pretty good in the role - he'd could probably look like the Alex Ross version.........

Weaving as Joker? I could dig it. He can play a intence psycho, see Matrix, with a dramatic flair, see V For Vendetta, so why not? He's a 'known' actor but so big as to overshadow Bale. It can work.

yes yes and more yes. I <3 Weaving as the Joker. I think it would be simply brilliant. He's such a great actor, and I think he would play off of Bale really well.

I can see him playing the part, I´m just inclined to go with Nolan´s idea of casting an unknown, someone who´ll disappear in the role. I have a feeling if you cast someone famous, it becomes a "battle of the stars" with Jack Nicholson, and no one will equal him in that aspect... The best chance for me is someone who disappears in the character in a way you don´t see the star, you see Joker.

I don't want Weaving as the Joker. He is too well known now and his face doesn't really match the Jokers. I'm hoping for Hulme or Bettany.

He isn't the worst choice I've heard but to be honest, none of the names dropped on these boards are an aprropriate choice, IMO.

Weaving would be better for the following roles:

Riddler
Mr. Freeze

Now see, I can see him as Mr. Freeze but that role belongs to Patrick Stewart.

I don't even think so. There's many many many other actors who are better suited for that role.

(no disrepect to the X)

i think this guy is a definite shoe-in for the Joker i mean he's got those pointy eyebrows and with some make up they can bring out his chin and nose a little. but i think he's got the look and definelty got the sadistic villianous look and feel from the Matrix as Agent Smith. so why the hell not?

Some interesting choices.

KIEFER SUTHERLAND -NO
ED HARRIS -NO
JASON ISAACS -Yes
HUGO WEAVING -Maybe
LANCE HENDRIKSEN -NO
MICHAEL IRONSIDE -Yes
SEAN BEAN -Yes

yeah . . . I think he could pull it off, I think he's a FANTASTIC character actor, but I would be a lil pissed if he actually got the role . . . plus he's a lil too old . . .

I'm all about Hulme for Joker . . . he just fits all the criteria as far as I'm concerned . . . not too big, not too small, not too known, etc, etc.

But who are we kidding!? MERYL STREEP FOR JOKER!!!!

Lance Hendriksen was ANTHONYNASTI's idea.

I'm all for Paul Bettany but my number one choice out of all involved would be Adrien Brody...

Thanks for the credit. I personally think he'd be awesome. Him or Sam Neil.

As for Weaving, no. I just don't see him as The Joker. For starters, he's a little too old, plus he's too well known thanks to already being in another comic book movie. He's also not lanky like The Joker should be. If I recall, he's actually a pretty muscular actor. Not right for Joker. Great actor, though.

:o that was my first choice for freeze, until i realised a bald guy doesn't have to play him :( now, i don't ever consider stewart a top contender for the role, he probably could pull it off, but there are so many other actors that could make the role thiers, and the charcter great.

He is like the real life incarnation of Alex Ross' Joker which IMO, is P-E-R-F-E-C-T. But as far as being "well known". He's not really. To us fanboys, sure. To the average person, even after having himself cloned a bajillion times in the matrix movies, he's still not that well known. I love him for Joker, Bettney is equal to him IMO. Hulme? No. No. never. nunca.

As far as patrick stewart goes for freeze.......one comic book character per actor please. Which is why I'm against jackman as Dent. He'd be great and all......if he wasn't already Wolverine.
